The diameter of the wire rope is 1/8” as advertised. The wire rope is wrapped on a spool and the end came held in place with plastic wrap. The spool didn’t come with a notch to hold the end of the rope, but that was easily solvable by drilling a few holes in the plastic top of the spool. The wire rope is composed of 7x7 strands. I split a section of the rope and verified that a single strand doesn’t tear under 10kg of load. So 49 strands should be good for 490Kg or roughly 1,000lbs, which is good enough for me. The advertised breaking strength is 1780lbs, but I didn’t test that limit. Overall I’m pleased with this purchase.

Needed the wire for an outdoor trellis. Worked perfectly.

The cable out of the box looks like it has good quality. Smooth and shiny. Definitely great value for the money. I use this type of cable to hang stuff in the garage and maximum tension on the cable is probably not even 100lbs so not quite sure about the advertised strength but it looks sturdy.
