Greater than one weekMy daughter used it just fine. I, an adult, tried to use it in an emergency situation and I think my flow was too strong... I had to pee really bad - and some came out around the edges and leaked onto my pants. Also, the little plunger thing that you screw down into cap to seal the urine in - It is so flimsy, it seems like it could easily be broken, or, if started at a slightly off angle, it wouldnt seal at all. I think in all the perfect situations, it may work pretty well, but honestly, I would NOT trust the bottle to be leak proof if tipped or falls down - like kids can often do. Still, pretty decent for an urgent situation for your children ( age 12 & under) So long as youre nearby to grab it from then when rh
