Trigonometry (9th Edition)

> 24 hourComing from a student who excelled in his trigonometry class, and uses trig frequently in real world applications, this book is absolutely awful. The explanations are vague and unhelpful, and the only reason I was able to get through the homework at times was because of previous experience in this area of mathematics. I noticed other students in my class having trouble with the first few chapters due to such issues, which is a shame, as they are key to building a solid foundation moving in to calculus. As other reviewers have stated, there are indeed types of problems that are never explained, and the book is also sorely lacking in explanations of derivations of trigonometric identities (which are really quite easy to explain and helps greatly towards actually understanding the math). Additionally, I found more than a few errors in the answer key. Considering that this is an elementary trigonometry book, this is unacceptable. Just for laughs, I did look for an errata sheet, but couldnt find any. Ive compared this edition a bit to the 10th edition and that one doesnt look too much better in terms of explanations, but hopefully the errors present in this edition have been fixed. In the end, you are probably buying this book because it is required for your class, so most of these reviews serve more as a warning than anything. But if you are trying to learn trigonometry by yourself, there are much better resources out there.

> 24 hourThis is a good trig book for beginners. Simple, elegant and has clear explanations. Im not sure why it has so many negative reviews. My only problem is that it doesnt necessarily delve into any detail about the derivations of fundamental trig formulas, but overall a very easy book to follow.

> 24 hourThis book is great, but only in concert with a professor. It was because of my skilled instructor guiding us through the material that I got so much out of the extensive exercises in the book. Like all ppearson books, the colorful presentation is nice, but is presented to serve functionality, and not deep conceptual approaches. I like this book better than others because there are separate boxes within a section that present the deeper side of the subject at hand. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this text. I have not seen the tenth edition, but I cant imagine too many significant changes were made.

> 24 hourThis book is great! I havent had to read through it too much, but the examples are helpful and some of the problems are actually rather challenging. My favorite feature of this book is its size, though. This book is fairly thin so its really light. Something I value more than the problem sets, honestly.

> 24 hourIt could be better. I needed it for trig class because its required by my major. I was going to get the tenth edition, and got this instead. Note to everyone looking to buy the newest trig book: the sun rises and sets the same color everyday. Nothing really changes in the 9th and 10th editions, I know because I compared my book and a classmates. Minus a few things, almost all of it is a reprint. The book itself is vague; sometimes I find myself retracing a few times to solve a problem, even after reading the chapters before hand. If you want, supplementing this with Khan Academy actually helps, and even other youtube tutorials.

> 24 hourArrived in good time and the condition was good except it got wet in shipping. I would recommend not wrapping products in wrapping paper. Some of the pattern from the paper transferred to the book, no significant damage.

> 24 hourI payed about $14 for the book + shipping & handling. The book arrived in very decent condition. Other than the big Michigan State sticker on the front (Im in Florida) I could resell the book. Great price for the condition it arrived in. Was expecting something all beat up like it went to war but it was very clean few scratches here and there. Have yet to find any notes on the inside so far. Would definitely order more books from the seller. Was the cheapest on the market and locally (most stores were still asking for a $100 used 0.o really?)

> 24 hourI had to buy this edition for College Trig. It was surprisingly easy to navigate and read. There is a new edition out now. I would assume it is just as good being from the same label. Either way, this book is super helpful.
