> 24 hourSome reviews on this radio bash it for being unable to listen in on local police department, etc. These users need to do more research. This is an excellent analog receiver, NOT A DIGITAL RECEIVER. Check your local law enforcement radio frequencies and equipment as digital transmissions cannot be picked up by this radio. For where I live this is not an issue. I can hear my local law enforcement clearly and was easy to find their frequencies online. Another invalid complain many users had was how difficult it is to program and use the radio. Seriously, read the manual. There are three different scanning modes, not including Close Call or any of the Priority Scanning functions. I read the manual once and understood their operation and function. I mostly Hold on a single channel but occasionally scan a few banks I programmed from my computer with the included USB cable. Again, follow the directions that came with the radio and you can easily program the radio from a PC. Others have said that the program is similar to Excel, and they are not wrong. Its very simple, it shows you the banks you can program you just fill in the form. My only complaint is the battery life. One one hand, the receiver is relatively compact as it only takes 2 x AA batteries. As a result though, I am averaging about 4 and half hours of listening time before the low battery warning. I wish they would make the receiver a little bigger to accommodate a larger amount of batteries. In summary, I like this scanner a lot. Its relatively small, light, picks up my local frequencies quite clearly, and has decent listening times. Research which frequencies you will want to be listening to to avoid disappointment. I would recommend this to someone as a first time purchase of a police scanner.

> 24 hourAfter unsuccessfully trying to program it manually for over an hour, I finally got online, downloaded the software and programmed it that way. Took about 10 minutes... then I was all set up and ready to listen to local, county and state agencies while out doing crimes. (Note: pictured with long-range crime-spree antenna.)

> 24 hourIt is suppose to be good, and You Tube video on it shows it in action. I obtained my refurbished in Canada and it came less a wrist strap but that is easy to fix at any camera store. Also any camera power plug you have with a USB port on it will charge this up off the wall socket and it has protection circuitry in it any way if you get the one that is to high up on the volts. Bad news so far there is no Macintosh software updater on it and it is best you use a PC to get the Uniden driver sorted out properly. I have not started it at all and there is some indication it will not work until you set it up on your PC first .. or wait till you get access to a PC to set it up with the driver download on the USB port. Once UNIDEN gets this worked out for Macintosh computers then it get 5 stars. I use it for the neighborhood watch as we do not have many cops in my county and the neighbors look out for each other for the most part. Lots of theft going on here apparently as there are lots of addicts in full drug mode.

> 24 hourWorks well but user interface is not logical. Old type of NiMH batteries. LCD backlight uses old fashioned power consuming LEDs.

> 24 hourBought this to use at NASCAR races. I thought Id need to spend hours figuring out how to upload a new software to the radio, but no, I didnt! All I had to do was research the driver and MRN radio frequency channels before the race, and I was able to listen to the radio over my headsets with no issues! For the 400 mile Darlington race in Spring 2022, it had plenty of battery left over. Only downsides: max volume is still a bit quiet when trying to listen over a NASCAR engine, but you can still hear it fine overall. Also, initially learning how to quickly go to certain frequencies and flip between them can take a bit of time, but it is in the instruction manual. Overall, this is a robust radio that will let you listen to the MRN broadcast and driver channels at a NASCAR race, which is what I wanted.

> 24 hourIgnore all those it’s too difficult to operate reviews... it’s down right simple! I’m mildly dyslexic when it comes to number punching. People who have previously complained, more than likely have problems putting in batteries or swapping out light bulbs, or boiling an egg! This scanner is ridiculously simple to use. Just watch some YouTube videos to get you started, and learn the sub menus and functions keys and by the next day or two, I promise you will be whizzing around the scanner like an expert! Anything new is daunting at first, like a new car, couple of spins around the block, you will remember which lever is your indicators and which lever operates your screen wipers! The more you fiddle with it, the better you become accustomed! This is a must buy analogue scanner. Works absolutely perfectly with the free “scan125” software. The software controls the scanner via your laptop or PC, with the usb cable supplied with your purchase! Your can even power off the Bearcat BC125AT within “scan125” program, it’s that powerful! Search “Nick Bailey Uniden scan125. I cannot stress enough to get this free software, which is HIGHLY recommended for your Bearcat BC125AT. Get it! Get it! Get it! The BC125AT scanner locks on better than my whistler 1010. The Close Call feature is powerful and has found more frequencies than my WS1010 ever did! So to those good folk who sent back their BC125AT, it’s very unfortunate you never spent time viewing those YouTube videos explaining this fastest seller! Otherwise you would be enjoying it as much as I am right now! Don’t hesitate... get it now! For the price, it’s worth it! Otherwise go for the more expensive digital brands. More time will be required learning the many sub menus of those high end scanners! I am very chuffed and delighted with my purchase from Amazon USA.

> 24 hourMy Uniden BC125AT now reads SCAN MODE ALL LOCKED! when I turn it on after just one day of pretty decent reception of my local railroads. When pressing the Hold button twice, it then reads ALL CHANNELS LOCKED OUT!. The owners manual makes no reference to this particular set of problems. I have erased all programmed channels hoping that this would clear it up but it did not fix it. I have a number of frequencies ready to load into it from my PC, but when I attempt to use the write to scanner function I get an error, which I presume is related to this problem. The error reads as follows: See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException: Configuration system failed to initialize ---> System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException: Unrecognized configuration section system.serviceModel. > 24 hourI was reluctant to purchase this scanner because I owned one of the first that was produced. The first one I owned was not very good. Poor reception and was subject to power line bleed over and numerous other problems. The Uniden BC125AT is a wonderful scanner. Programing from the scanner itself is somewhat of a pain and takes a lot of time. If you purchase this scanner download the programing software. It is very easy to use and will save you a ton of time. Reception is very good with no powerline bleed over.

> 24 hourWorks well, very easy to program even for a beginner simply by following the directions. Seems to get decent signal and works well in my little rural area. It does not seem to hold a charge by using the included charger. I charge batteries separately and put them it and then can use it approximately 15-18 hours off that charge, but for the price it is worth the little inconvenience!
