> 3 dayAs others have said this replacement part for the Shark vacuum cleaner is Better than the original because the hose is more flexible, making it easier to reach places that are distant from the vacuum itself. It was easy to move the Shark hose retaining ring from the original (now broken) hose, onto the replacement hose. I followed the steps below, which only took about 10 minutes. 1) cut through the spring steel in original hose with a small hand held grinder - - - do this first 2) slide the original hose retaining ring off of the original hose at the newly cut hose-end 3) using an ultra-thin hack saw blade, slowly cut through the white outside ring and the red internal ring of the original hose retaining ring. 4) drop these parts into a cup of hot (boiled) water so they become slightly pliable; remove and immediately spread the rings just enough to clip each ring over the replacement hose... 5) slide a small thin piece of cardboard between the cut area of the red ring and the new hose under it, to insulate the high (melting) heat of the soldering iron tip from the new hose! 6) using a clean Hot soldering iron tip, carefully mend the red ring by smooshing the melted red edges toward the thin cut, from both sides - do not touch or melt the new hose. Also do not overdo the mend; only melt enough to bring the melted ends together. When cool, remove the cardboard. 7) slide the white (cut) ring over the (now mended) red ring. 8) repeat step 6, again being careful not to touch and melt the new hose. 9) slide the mended ring assembly along the new hose to the optimal position. (You want to have the ring low enough to keep the hose tension off the handle; that is the part of the original hose that eventually tore through from over-flexing, in my case.) 10) click the original hose retaining rings ball into the vacuum cleaners spherical socket. Voila.

> 3 dayWould have given it a 5 star rating but it is missing the magnet runs that fits into the handle about midway to hold the hose firmly in place.
