Admittedly, the thing puts out some heat but I also didnt think having a 10lb ball of fur laying on it all the time was going to help the lifespan. So I looked for a stand to hold my laptop vertically. Most of them I saw were designed for thin laptops which would not work for my HP Omen. I came across this adjustable one which works great. I set the width and tightened the adjustment bolts. Now my laptop stands up and my cat now has to resort to laying in the sunbeam like all the other cats do.
