Update: both monitors I purchased have started making quiet whistling noises, sounds similar to the noise made by an old hard drive when its seeking lots of data. This monitor has a super annoying feature where it changes the backlight brightness based on how much white is onscreen. This makes it impossible to set your brightness to a comfortable level. If you use dark mode apps like I do, you adjust your brightness so theyre readable. BUT, then if you open a light mode window, all of a sudden the monitor ramps up the brightness and its blindingly bright. Very stupid feature, very frustrating, defeats the whole point of setting the brightness. After a lot of digging through menus, I finally found a way to turn off the auto brightness. Its under Setup Menu -> ECO Mode. On a different topic, my macbook pro refuses to remember that this monitor is rotated, but that could be apples fault. Also, this monitor has a game mode which presumably runs faster, but it makes all the colors look washed out and ugly.

This is a just OK monitor....and not what I was hoping for in a ViewSonic. It has a dark pixel segment in the upper left corner...about 1/2 x 1/2. The quality is not what I remembered from their monitors, and I would not recommend it to others.

Monitor: Great picture, flexible, full range connections, simple setup. Perfect choice in this monitor class. TECH SUPPORT: 1st monitor received damaged in transit. I called expecting a long replacement delay with hassles. Had a project deadline. Generally is good performance for price. I purchased this item for true 8bit color depth and other graphical parameters. But Firmware updating cannot support for VG2455-2K Model is is bad. Please be advised, you need a specific USB C cable for this monitor to work with your Macbook Pro or any laptop you have. I DID read a review that says you need a USB C 3.1 cable so I bought an Anker cable. The review on it says IT DOES transmit video but it does not. The reason why the review says so is because it pulls from all versions of the cable so there is a version that DOES work. I went back and forth between this monitor and a LG 4K monitor. This monitor definitely gets the job done and for almost half the price. I used a thunderbolt cable and the picture is amazing and keeps my MacBook charged. I would definitely recommend this monitor.

I connect MBP 2017 and this monitor using USB 3.1 cable, nothing showing on the display. HDMI connector works well.
