Each piece is just shy of 16 inches wide, which means you cant screw it into the studs. I had to secure a horizontal beam, then attach this to the beam. Once installed though, it is easy to adjust it and is very sturdy.

Bought this to hang up things in my Garage. It was a good buy the mounts are very strong and sturdy and actually holds a good deal of weight. O e major thing that keeps this from being a full 5 star rating is that it comes packaged with screws and anchors meant for hanging things on brick, i dont know anyone that has a brick garage, that being said if you need to hang on drywall you should use the butterfly type anchors or better yet the type that spread wide to grip the wall, just be sure to know the thickness of your drywall i used the wrong size first and ended up with a hole to fix, but once i got the correct size it worked like a charm.

I really like this product. Install is very clean and the metal is sturdy and well toleranced. I also love the ability to have multiple tools on a single holder.
