Very happy so far! Stoked WD finally released a nas rated ssd. I have it running in a cache pool on my Unraid server. Of course, only time will tell but for now it is performing admirably. Update 11-16-21: It has been running 24/7 for almost 2 years now and is still as solid as ever!

I finally upgraded my Raspberry Pis external drive to an SSD. The speed and the extra capacity on this thing are great, but they come with a price... 1.6A power draw! What??? The old spinning drive it replaced required 0.6A. The Raspberry Pi 4 can supply 1.2A. I had to purchase an externally powered SATA-to-USB3 adapter to get it to work with the Pi. Other than that debacle, its a nice upgrade in storage.

Bought a pair, installed on QNAP TVS-473, and Composition mirror, RAID 1 onboard sata ports. Stable operation for 6 months.

Popped this into my NVR for use with my home security camera system. Works great and a noticeable speed upgrade from the HDD i was running previously. Will probably pick up a few more and RAID them! Only downside is it doesnt come with mounting screws, but this isnt a huge deal.

Was very easy to install and clone my old drive. Have had for about 1 month and no problems.

I have 2 of these in a RAID1 equivalent in ZFS running in a QNAP TVS-872XT. One was dropping out about once a week after 7 months of use. Luckily I could pull it, wait a few minutes, and put it back in to rebuild in a few seconds (the beauty of ZFS). Because WD wants to charge money for advanced RMA, I bought a new replacement and put it in (a big mistake in hindsight). A couple weeks later the other drive starts acting up. It had not dropped out of the RAID until today, 9 months old. What good is a 5 year warranty on a NAS specific disk if I have to keep replacing it. QuTS reports that it has 95% life left. Yeah, right. So one is out for RMA, one is 2 weeks old working, and the other will be RMAd as soon as the first replacement arrives. Good thing Ill have a spare on the shelf at all times.

I love these WD RED SSDs, great in my NAS, and very reliable. Just wish they were cheaper, but you get what you pay for.

The WD produce good fair products, what Yoo get and what You pay, in my opinion, their products are overpriced, I was thinking to buy the 4TB but almost 500$ each I then switch to 2TB. In the NAS this two HD will store the most frequent used files. but when You dont want to compromise reliability, especially if You use for a NAS, the price became the last of the priority. Its too short time to comment about durability, they are guarantee 5 years of 24/7 working time. I shall be allowed to comment about it after three years (at list). But in matter of actual performance the two pair SSD are doing their job, not much eat, remain about 35°C in an enviroment of 25°C. eating less than conventional HD. For a laptop or desk top, to replace a traditional mechanical HD, if Your data is important, this is expensive but worth to have. If You are not in hurry, I suggest You to wait to see 4TB price drop significantly when theyll introduce the 8TB SSD type.
