> 3 dayNeeded to upgrade from my 3TB Western Digital Red (WD30EFRX) that was quite long in the tooth and getting full. Used Acronis to clone the drive and transfer roughly 3TB of data. Hottest it got during that 6 hour period was 51°C. Average normal use is 43°C so does not run hot at all despite being in the lower chamber of my Fractal Design Define C case with no direct air cooling. Completely silent even during intense writing and reading. Someone else noted screw holes not being standard but I did not find this at all on the 8TB model. Has all standard screw holes, two on each side and 6 on the bottom.

> 3 dayThis drive was to be an archive to move files from older hard drives to this one. This drive just failed on 9/11/2021. It performs endless spinning and clicking whenever it is powered up now.

> 3 dayIn read and write tests using AJA and Blackmagic this WD Red 8TB hard drive is about 10-13% slower than a Seagate Skyhawk 8 TB drive. I was disappointed in this WDs performance so I returned it. I thought all 7200 RPM drives would perform similarly but thats not the case. I dont see any advantage of this WD Red hard drive compared to Seagate Skyhawk. The price is only slightly less $10 at most.

> 3 dayHave an older model (WD80EFZX) of the same capacity for more than 3 years of almost 24/7 use. No problems. Purchased this to add extra storage space. Packaging is excellent. Did a surface error scan after installation to check for bad sectors and if the drive is faulty (took about 12-16 hours which is normal for this size) and so far been working fine. Will update again if there are problems with this.

> 3 dayThis is my third one of these to fail in my Synology NAS. Do not buy this drive. Ive replaced it with Seagate (ST8000VNZ04/N004) and have had no issues.

> 3 dayThe product is of high quality, the delivery is fast, the packaging is good, I managed to buy it for $ 218, now it is on sale for $ 250, which, in my opinion, is too expensive.

> 3 dayInstalled on a WD PR4100 NAS. Hard drive works great and seems a tad faster than other WD red drives I own @ 5400 RPM. Tends to run 10-15 degrees warmer.
