It had a strange odor when opening it but it faded away. This is such a great thing to have if you have a shy little guinea pig and want them to lay on you or with you. I got this for my guinea pigs i have two and i would say they are relatively big they are about 3 years old. They would both fit in but it would be somewhat compact so maybe only one would be best at a time. They lay and love this thing it is so soft. I would recommend maybe buying two if you have more then on guinea pig.

My guinea pigs will crawl inside, but they dont like to share the space. It takes up a lot of room for just 1 pig. Our tea cup chihuahua was using it as a sleeping bag for a while but she out grew it. Now I use it as a way to lift timid guinea pigs out if the enclosure as opposed to grabbing them. It works really good for that! Its like a guinea pig elevator. Haha

As my guinea pig loved the first one, I Ordered another. The problem with it is that the bedding I Use sticks firmly to this little cave. That means that when I take it out of his cage to shake the bedding off, bedding goes everywhere. For some unknown reason he is not going in and hanging out which he did with the first one. Once I washed and dried it, he ignored it. IT is perfect for the purpose of giving your guinea pig a cuddly hideout. The item is perfect for what it is designed to do. I do stuff him into it when I change his bedding and at that time, he seems to be very happy in it.
