I installed these without touching the glass. As you know, your fingers can leave an oil that makes these halogen bulbs burn out faster. They work great! They keep my lizard nice and warm at around 90 degrees F ambient, but I use this in conjunction with a red desert night light, as well. I use a large mat underneath the terrarium with a heat sensor attached. This set up works great for my desert-climate lizard.

These lights, in my opinion are the longest lasting and put out more heat than any light I have used.

These provide good warmth for my snake cage. But be careful of the height from your pet. I tried it over my shorter cage and the snake didn’t like it. I use it over my talk cage with my nocturnal snake. It provides heat in the day, leaving the cage warm for later.
