These bulbs are absolutely necessary for your reptiles, but the UVB light output drops off fairly quickly. We replace the bulb every six months for this reason. Although the bulb still lights up and provides illumination, the UVB that your lizard needs is not good after about 6 months.

Ordered this for my chameleon off a suggestion from a youtube video and am happy that I did. Previously had a dome UVB light and this one fits perfectly across the top of my chameleons cage. Its definitely made her a lot happier being able to receive more lighting than the dome light! Definitely worth purchasing as well as it comes with one light in the hood that I purchased so the additional one is just backup for when the other goes out! SO SCORE all the way around!

Needed a uv bulb and local pet supply chain store didnt have them in the size I needed.. even though I bought the fixture there. So I ordered online and had it a few days later

These bulbs are very good, but until amazon figures out that shipping light bulbs in envelopes is idiotic theres no point in buying them here. Update: Amazons customer service assured me the replacement bulb would be sent in a box. Nope, another bulb in an envelope, although the second one did survive the trip.

I previously wrote that when the product arrived it did not work. Because it was a light bulb and was packaged in only an envelope, I was sure it had been damaged in transit. HOWEVER, the bulb DOES WORK. I did try it three times, but apparently it was operator error...my husband was finally able to get it adjusted properly and it does work. I apologize for my previous review, but I did, in fact, try several times to get it to work. I would recommend, perhaps, some better packaging, just to ensure no in-transit damage is done. Thank you.

I’m sure the product itself is absolutely wonderful. However it was poorly packaged and arrived shattered. They are sending a replacement.

Horrible quality from merchant—definitely not true ZooMed quality. But DID NOT last ONE month. Last one that I purchased from a local store lasted over a year, and I only replaced it because they are not excreting light properly after one year.
