Received two of these. First one was defective, one port didn’t work at all. Sent it back and received another one. It doesn’t charge my phone at all, it says it’s at 14.3 volts but seems to take away charge from my phone. I can’t use it now and have to take this one out and buy another one that hopefully works. It’s well made and packaged good, but my experience was poor.

Drilling the hole and routing the wiring is the hard part. Looks clean,works great. Watch the polarity when wiring.

I powered this up with my benchtop power supply to test it out. The voltmeter display will be on whenever there is at least 5 volts powering the device. I verified it was charging my Motorola Droid Turbo at 8.8 volts / 1.4 amps (same as my AC charger). If I drop the voltage below about 9 volts it drops the charge rate to about 240ma. Im seeing 12v / 0.9a coming out of the power supply and 8.93v / 1.06a coming out of this USB charger, 10.8 watts in, 9.5w out or 88% efficiency (approximately). Nice! The voltmeter seems accurate, the plastic molding is excellent, the wiring is carefully crimped. It comes with ring terminal connectors crimped on, and spare blade connectors are supplied as well if you prefer.

was going to replace the cigarette lighter in my 86 mustang with this but it did not fit, I didnt want to drill the original part so decided to return it.

I have used this product in my Ford Expedition (replaced a cigarette lighter) and in the cockpit of my sailboat - works well

It is great that the current Battery Voltage is displayed so you can be aware.

My only complaint is that this is not an exact fit, I had to enlarge the hole where my cigarette lighter was to install this. It didnt not need to be significantly enlarged, but because I was not expecting it I didnt have the tools on hand. But install was basic, the item works great, its far better than plugging a USB adapter into a cigarette lighter and having it wiggle loose and fall of or intermittently charge.

I purchased 2 of these to replace 12V accessory plugs in my Kawasaki Mule (1 in front and 1 in back). I was able to remove the existing plug and put this in its place in about 10 minutes for each plug. The build quality is very nice. The cover seats well on the face of the charger and the system voltage is easily viewable through the window in the cover. Both that I received read the same voltage at the same time. I did not verify system voltage independently with a meter, but the volt display was a bonus for me on these so Im not concerned if they are .1 volt off. Time will tell how the internals will hold up, but for now I am happy with them and wouldnt hesitate to recommend them.
