I bought this to replace a 7 year old Linux gaming computer (dual-boot, multi-drive) with a corroded power supply, expecting to install a couple extra hard drives, while still playing a few games on the original Windows drive it shipped with. After a little research, it looked like I wouldnt have a lot of trouble installing drivers for the hardware that comes with this model, and the price was reasonably low compared with System76, so I went ahead and ordered it.

Fast to start up, has worked well with occulus link/virtual reality games (half life alyx and Asgards wrath) at medium settings as advertised. If you turn up VR settings to high you will definitely get high CPU and GPU temperatures, but i would say this is expected for a laptop.

EDIT 2/14/23: Still going strong today. I wonder if anyone is still looking at reviews for this? Regardless, I think I would happily buy a Helios again based on my experience with this one.

I got this computer one year ago for christmas, its been amazing except for two giant flaws. The battery life is terrible, it wont last an hour just using google chrome, no games in the backround no nothing. The other major flaw is that it overheats a lot just playing fortnite cod or even sometimes just minecraft the cpu will get to 100 degrees celsius its crazy the computer will get so hot it will hurt to the touch. This is not very important but the speakers are pretty quiet. On the other hand the picture is great, games run really smoothly the graphics card is great it works really well. Except for the battery and the computer battery.

This has been the perfect solution for my 15 year old as a gaming laptop. The screen is crisp and it is a great entry level gaming machine. It plays everything on Steam, which is where he plays most of his games. Ive had it for over a year now and wanted to wait on the review. It is still running strong. Im very happy with it.

I purchased this laptop around April 2020. Within less than a year, the GPU fan started to act up. It would stop spinning and my laptop will start to overheat like crazy. I went to several stores to see whats the issue with the GPU fan, and they told me that I wouldve to replace the fan. Its crazy how a fan is broken in less than a year. I would highly recommend avoiding getting predator helios 300 laptop to avoid future malfunction.

This laptop has done everything I have asked it to do!(CoD, Apex, Valorant, GuildWars2) Turbo is LOUD but I overclock and have good ventilation and a fan stan I almost never hear my fans, but its nice to know if they need to go max THEY WILL!

After sending back my other computer (an Acer) I paid the extra 100$ and got this guy for gaming. After 30 minutes of updates....It blew my mind how awesome this machine is. The keyboard lighting is fully customizable. It has overclock setting built in so you do not have to crash your computer a bunch of times to get it right. I play all my games on Ultra and it is 100fps+. I am so glad I went with the Predator and will be staying with this from now on. Also, I will be installing a 1tb SSD in the empty slot to add more space. Cant say enough good things about how light, stylish and out of the box ready for gaming it is!
