Bought this laptop 5 months ago. It overheats really quickly and FPS goes down. It throttles after 10 minutes of gaming. Bought it as a gift for my son. Feel like I wasted $1300. Acer Support was no help. Asked me to reset the laptop and maximize the fan. Troubleshooting didnt help. Dont waste your money.

I bought this laptop specifically to use with The Golf Club 2019 golf simulation package, which powers my home golf simulator (however it runs Gears Tactics and Wasteland 3 very well). It does everything I need and has some great features. I am a Mac user and the last Windows I used was Windows 7. Windows 10 is serviceable but still has bloatware installed and the default email client does not seem to work with gmail or yahoo - I do not have the patience to try and work through it at this point. For gaming the laptop is good especially for the money. This said I have had the laptop for about 8 weeks and it is clear after talking with Acer technical support that the battery is defective. Gaming it lasts less than 30 minutes and simply surfing the web at power saving settings the battery lasts an hour at best. My only option is to package the entire laptop up and send it to Texas, at my own expense (including risk for any damage that occurs during shipping), for repairs. This may require my hard drive to be erased which would also require me to go through an extensive machine code process to reinstall my golf simulation software (which is extremely expensive and has usage tied to a single machine). All of this is very disappointing for a laptop at this price point. My Apple MacBook Pro was only slightly more expensive and if something like this happened with Apple I would have a box for return shipped directly to me (at Apples expense, not mine) for me to send the laptop back to them for repairs. Given that this is a battery issue alone, I would have at least expected an option to have them send me a new battery and do a self-repair / return - but that does not seem to be an option. Were it not for the battery issue this review would be a 4/5 or 5/5. An excellent value - if your machine is not defective....

I love this laptop. Runs everything I do well and I like the portability. It does get hot and the only thing that bothers me is that I have had this for about a year and the seams in the corners are pulling apart and they are VERY sharp and will cut. Its a small thing but very annoying. Overall a good laptop.

I did not use the laptop for gaming, so I cannot comment on those aspects. I bought it for the graphics card that I needed for advanced 3D modeling. It worked great for some enormous Solidworks projects. When it was just 4 months old, the hard drive died. Acer tech support agreed that it needed to be sent in for hardware replacement. They told me that the entire repair and warranty system was down and only tech support was available and to call back in a couple of days. I overnighted the laptop to a trusted computer repair center and they diagnosed it as a bad hard drive, but they cant replace it without an image from Acer. Guess what else is down? Recovery image website is also down. I ordered a new Lenovo with a similar graphics card because this laptop has been down for a week now and I cant even submit a repair ticket, much less send it off for repair. I am down another $1500 just to keep my business going. One week later and they tell me again to call back in a couple of days. I will send this one in for repair and sell it. This is my last Acer purchase.

I bought this as a desktop replacement. Its a nice fast little laptop for general work. However, it is noisy (fans) and there does not seem to be a way to control what runs on the GPU. SO, youre forced to run inane processes on the GPU, which causes the fans to speed up and make A LOT of noise. I bought an Acer Nitro laptop for my wife, and its a much nicer and quieter laptop. In retrospect, I wish I had bought two Nitros and did not buy the Predator Helios. Such is life.

Buyer beware: This is not a ding on Acer or this model laptop. I purchased a second one of these as a backup for when my older one stopped working. I spent extra because I wanted windows 10 NOT windows 11 but during setup, Microsoft automatically

Went on youtube to do a screen bleed test, The screen is bleeding horribly on 5 spots. After a windows update i had to completely remove video card driver and do fresh install to have speaker working again.
