I purchased the PoE switch as I am adding new devices (IP Cameras) that require PoE. I was previously using a single PoE injector and was looking for a product that will grow with my future needs. I had initially looked at simple 8-port PoE injectors, but I was running out of space on my main switch. This Gigabit PoE switch is able to free ports from my main switch, provide 96W of PoE, and will be able to meet my future needs. The installation was super easy--just had to connect to the power and connected the first port of the PoE switch to my main switch. After powering it on, it immediately connected and I was able to plug in additional devices. This also gave me an opportunity to clean up and do some cable management. It does come with screws if you want to mount it. I like that the device automatically detects and shows whether its providing PoE or just an uplink. Since adding two 4K Amcrest IP Cameras, I have not noticed any latency issues while streaming video to my tablet. Im very satisfied with the product, although I wouldnt mind if Amcrest introduced a rack mount in the box or as an accessory. Of course, I could get an additional shelf, but it would certainly make it more visually appealing. Im now able to easily connect more devices and be up and running with my access point and IP Cameras.

This is a really nice 802.11at/af switch. I pluggde in multiple devices and they all powered up and worked just fine. I did not like that it had no mounting slots. Also, it is advertised as a layer 2 management switch, which is 100% accurate. Unfortunately, that just means it is a basic switch that can only work across one subnet. If you are looking to VLAN off your cameras, youll have to pair it with a layer 3 switch and router. Note that it is not a managed switch. This is a standard dumb switch, with the ability to give great PoE.

Ive only had this for a day, but already I am glad I purchased it. I couldnt find anything in the documentation that said if it would not send POE power over the port if it didnt need it, so I took a chance and plugged it in. So far, the wired speed is great. I have three Amcrest POE cameras connected. On my previous switch, the third camera was 20 to 30 seconds behind the other two when viewing in MotionEye (free DVR software, on linux). Now they are right on track with each other. I will have to update when Ive had it plugged in a while. I dont usually buy things that dont have a lot of reviews, but I have liked the Amcrest cameras and thought I would take a chance. I like it so far.

Worked great out of the box. Power supply is good size for the power required. Many of these devices use small power supplies that fail over time. No power fluctuations, just works.

I bought to use with 2 POE cameras and this worked out of the box, just plugged the cables and the cameras was turned on. I will buy more cameras and see how it goes. I like the indicator led that shows what port is using POE and what port is using just LAN. If you are looking for a not so expensive POE switch, this is a great choice.

This is my first security camera setup and the camera I bought was POE (power over Ethernet) so I needed this switch to power the camera. Setup was super easy! First you plug the power adapter into a wall outlet and into the back of the switch. Then you plug one ethernet cable from your home internet router into port 1 of the switch and then plug your camera into another port. Thats it. NOTE: You will need to have at least 2 ethernet cables on hand or purchase them as the unit does not come with them.

This 8-Port Amcrest POE has performed so well, that I have purchased a second one. Plug and play that works without any extra steps. Plug in LAN, power up, and go.

    - Looks sharp, clean, feels solid and has easy to read labels/text. - I plugged it in, moved my 4 existing cameras and plugged in the new IP8M-2493EW. All 4 of my other cameras booted right up. - With my old switch, I noticed a little lag loading individual cameras and that seems to have slightly improved. - I do wish it had optional ears to rack mount but I understand the size is smaller than 1U so it probably would never be an option on a switch smaller than 16 ports. - No issues so far with my 4 existing cameras or interaction with Blue Iris.
