AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core, 16-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor with Wraith Prism LED Cooler

Amazing how a processor can deliver this much power a such a low cost. I do most of my work from home, and the stability when using photoshop and render speed is insane. Not to mention the Beautiful Prism Cooler Ryzen included. Still working on airflow upgrades, but CPU temps idle at 40 degrees C which is a huge plus over my old Cooler Master Hyper 212

I built a PC for the first time and was torn between AMD and Intel. Ultimately decided to go with AMD because of a Black Friday deal from Best Buy. Well, that CPU came dead out of the box, so off to a not so great start. I ordered another one off Amazon because Best Buy was out of stock and Amazon, as always, came through. CPU got here in 2 days and works flawlessly. If you want to save some money, go for the 3000 series. They work great and prices are going lower as 5000 series stock increases. I cannot be happier with AMD and I will be rocking AMD builds for the foreseeable future.

Great cpu, but you need a graphics card.

I went from an old xeon to a ryzen 5 1600 to this cpu the ryzen 7 3700x and i noticed a big difference when going from each cpu the first jump from the xeon i was using to the r5 1600 was the biggest difference i noticed going from 4 cores and 8 threads to a newer 6 core 12 thread cpu then from the 1600 to the 3700x i noticed it was smoother than the r5 1600 and it handled games better but where this cpu really shines is in workstation tasks its got the cores and threads you need for a not too bad asking price compared to intel

If you are upgrading an old build this may be fine but when building a new computer the latest x570 chipset is buggy and the x470 chipset motherboards ship with older bios that require an update to use this cpu. The time and cost to take a cpu from an existing computer is also going to eat up any perceived value in these brand new chips that only work in the buggy new motherboards. Very few x470 motherboards support the bios update without a cpu - Asus has ONE. I made the mistake of reading some stories that downplayed the issue and assumed that I could work around it. Stupid me - dont be stupid too. Who keeps a new CPU lying around?
