> 3 dayI have an older computer with a slightly newer 8 year old Nvidia graphics card. In spite of their age, both work great for me and for the uses I subject them to. About a week ago my computer would lock up while playing one of my few games, requiring a hard reboot. After researching I opened my computer box and removed the card to clean it. It was filthy with dust... my bad! Even after cleaning it the same game would lock up the computer. More research only returned the suggestion that it was time to replace the graphics card. I started looking into a replacement card but came across a video where a guy was showing how to clean graphics cards. In the comments someone wrote in that he/she had a graphics card that would overheat within a minute of loading a game, had followed his instructions on cleaning the card and yet the computer was still locking up. Exactly my scenario. The video guy simply replied you need to replace the thermal grease.
