Had one job to do... Pull the harmonic balancer on my LS build... I did manage to get the balancer off but the long rod that came in the kit bent like a pretzel... I returned this item.

Worked as described but I had an issue on the first use. While removing my front pulley on a 6.0l LQ4 I had to use the long bar for the removal. Well it bent on the very first use. I can probably straighten it out and can still use it but just seems strange it would bend on first use. Other than that it worked good and I’m sure it’ll work again.

Extremely simple, yet effective, design. This is superior to most other pullers on the market, in my opinion. Would definitely recommend.

I rented a 3 prong damper removal tool from AutoZone, but the pin that goes in the crank that forces the damper off the crank was not long enough. This ARES 71002 kit had (4) different length pins and the longest one was the right one to pull the harmonic damper on a GM LS3 engine. Tool is designed correctly as it also has a 24mm nut that you can use with a wrench to hold the crankshaft from rotating while tightening the puller bolt with a 3/4 wrench. I simply laid the end of the 24mm wrench on the frame/power steering box to hold the crank from moving. while I tightened the 3/4 wrench. The damper came off quickly without any issues! It even has a carrying case to store all the parts. Also, to hold the 3 pawls from slipping off the damper pull points, I used a small rubber band that helps to hold the pawls in place until you get enough tension on them to remove the damper. One last comment, it is super strong but compact so you dont have to pull the radiator. Check out the clearance in the second above photo.

Obviously when they say it’s for small tight spaces for smaller pulleys they should’ve tried it for themselves instead of taking peoples word I just wasted money and time waiting for it to come in and it doesn’t do what they said.
