A little thin on consistencies but had a great taste. Mixes well.

Considering the limited ingredients, I wonder why I tastes like chemicals. No chocolate flavor AT ALL in the chocolate. Just gross, and Im pretty flex when it comes to this because I just need the protein. I mix this in a shake with blueberries, peanut butter, kale and you CANNOT HIDE THE TASTE.

I use this after I swim. Always need a little extra protein in the middle of the day. A nice little boost of energy. Flavor good not chalky.

Ascent is by far the best protein supplement. Great flavor, mixes easily with milk or water, and it’s a good price compared to purchasing in store.

To anyone who may come across this review, I ran out of my usual protein supply which is Forza Pro and is sold exclusively by Nutrishop (that I’m aware of) so I decided to go to the one down the street from my apartment. Turns out they were moving locations so I couldn’t get my usual protein. I went on Amazon and decided to purchase what I thought would be something that I could use to replace it in the meantime. I searched chocolate protein (I usually prefer chocolate flavored proteins) and came across this Ascent Native Fuel protein powder. Wanted some protein right away and it had next day shipping so I decided to give it a try without really reading too much on it or reading any reviews. All I saw was 120 calories for 25g of protein which is really pretty solid as far as protein powders go. I figured since it was $40 for 2lbs that it probably doesn’t taste too bad or anything. I was most definitely mistaken. It literally tastes like dirt mixed with cotton candy. I honestly can’t figure out the exact flavor but that’s the closest thing I can come up with to describe what it tastes like. I don’t even like to drink protein powders. I don’t like to make smoothies or anything, I mix it with water and just chug and I can tell you right now that it’s possibly the WORST tasting protein powder I’ve come across. I know that for the macros it has it’s hard to expect it to taste that good but this stuff actually tastes like dirt when I’m chugging it. And then when I finish I get this large aftertaste of cotton candy as if it’s going to make me go “wow now that’s great!” Now maybe it tastes better with milk or mixed into a smoothie but there are definitely other protein powders out there that I’ve had that have very similar macros and don’t taste nearly as bad. If you’re paying $40 for only 2lbs then it’d better taste pretty solid. For sure NOT getting this again. Going to just make sure to get my usual Forza Pro protein powder ahead of time before I run out so I don’t run into this issue again. EDIT: after reading some reviews I cannot believe that people are saying this stuff tastes great. They must literally have the most bland tastebuds on earth because this stuff actually tastes horrible. If you’re a normal human being that isn’t a gym freak on roids or Tren then don’t buy this ABSOLUTE GARBAGE.

Great taste, clean ingredients!

I feel like I have tried a lot of whey in my life. Whey has evolved a lot. Its not all created equal. IMO ingredients matter. Taste and consistency matter. I hate spending money on whey that no one in my house will use. I originally found this brand at WF on sale. I like chocolate PB flavored anything. It mixes pretty well with water. I mix this with coffee a lot. I do not mind the taste. I recommended this brand to people when theyre looking for a cleaner whey. I was excited to find this on a lightning deal since the retail price is on the moderate to high side. I am a repeat purchaser of this product

I love Ascent protein powder. I’ve always been really happy with the taste, consistency, etc. I just received my bag of Cookies and Cream protein powder today. It is NOT a 2 lb bag. The picture on here also says it’s not a 2 lb bag- you have to zoom in to see it. It’s on me for not looking at the fine print, but when all the other bags are 2 lbs, you would expect this one to be, as well. This is just a heads up that you are paying the same price as a 2 lb bag, but getting less product.

This protein isn’t going to amaze you with the flavor profile. It’s definitely something that could be better implemented in a smoothie. That said, I’ve gone through half the bag with cold water or almond milk in a shaker bottle—no problem. The other flavors appear to use stevia, which is sometimes too sweet, so this is definitely the high bar for a minimally sweet, non-artificially flavored protein. Will purchase again from Ascent … possibly strawberry again.
