> 3 dayThis is a great knife for grandkids to use. I have one grand son that likes to use the shaving horse, so carving is next. I like the safety features. It is sharp out of the box. First lesson will be how to strop and knife safety.

> 3 dayI like it! Its got some great features for a kids first real carving knife. Rounded end , and I like the finger guard too that cuts down on fingers slipping onto the very sharp cutting edge.

> 3 dayI love BeaverCraft for their knives that are ready to go out of the box. They hold their edge with minimum stropping needed. This one will be for a child learning how to carve but I have high hopes it will hold up to abuse.

> 3 dayI got this knife for a beginning carver friend of mine. It’s excellent for a couple of reasons. Number one, it doesn’t have a point. At first I thought this would be a disadvantage, but it’s actually very wise. You can learn the basic cuts without using the point of your knife. And without proper instruction, many people break the point of their knives off! The next thing that I like about this knife is the thumb guard. It keeps a beginning carver from getting his finger into the blade. The knife arrived sharp enough to use without any extra sharpening. My friend is definitely enjoying it!

> 3 dayA good knife for children. Offers a smaller handle comfortable to hold. The blade and handle is smaller allowing better control for kids. The guard is a nice addition for safety. I did notice the knife wasnt as sharp as my other beavercraft knifes but gets the job done especially with some stopping. Seeing as it is a knife for kids I would prefer a set of cut resistant gloves as extra safety measure. Fortunately I do have some. That being said the knife seems pretty nice for a kids first carving knife. And would make a good Christmas gift.
