This projector is simply fantastic. The image, design and feature set (zoom, lens shift, no light border etc) make this guy a winner. 4K films are simply incredible, blacks are inky black thanks to its dynamic iris, and HDR support truly makes for an excellent viewing experience. Great value for the money. The only thing I dont like about this exceptional projector is the optical output is only stereo. Not sure what Benq was thinking when this decision was made. Its seems silly to design such a fantastic machine, then limit it to Stereo output via its toslink port. I had to purchase a sound extractor device to strip the 5.1 sound from HDMI, and then pipe the sound from the device to my surround system. This was an inconvenience, and unnecessary expense, when Benq could have simply incorporated 5.1 Surround out of the toslink port. Wishful thinking I know, but hopefully a future firmware release will turn on surround sound from the optical port. Hopefully it is a firmware limitation....albeit quite unlikely. That is the only fault I have with the projector. I hope this review helps anyone contemplating this projector.

This projector was a direct upgrade from an HT2050A and is my first 4K unit. I have to say, the sharpness of the image and richness of color continue to blow me away in the past few days Ive had it installed. The improved contrast due to the inclusion of a dynamic iris is an added bonus as well! My Home Theater is fairly small, being 11x13ft in size, so my front row is close to my screen. This was manageable with the 2050A as long as you didnt learn forward, but literally standing a foot from my screen I can hardly make out individual pixels. I skipped the 2550 last year because it seemed like it had a little too much baggage. But just like other reviewers have stated, I think BenQ nailed it with this projectors performance at this price point and many will make the jump over to 4K. Amazon for its part seemed completely aloof as to the stock situation with the HT3550, so fortunately I was able to acquire one elsewhere and couldnt be happier!

Excellent picture quality right out of the box. Can’t beat this level of quality at set price point. Overall very solid projector. You will not be disappointed.

Well guys what can I say about this projector? My previous projector was a viewsonic 720p native which I purchased from a co-worker, who had upgraded his screen and projector (he got another viewsonic and gave me his gently used screen and projector). I had been waiting over a year to upgrade. I went from wanting to get the TK800 when it first hit, to the LGs fancy portable one, to the xiaomi mi to you name it...I have a small apartment (its mounted a little over 8.2 away), so the throw was important to me, and I had been tired of not making use of the projector screens size (a homegear 110). Im a novice when it comes to all the jargon and terminology, however, I do know what looks good. Im a computer gamer and several yrs ago added xbox and ps4 to my list of addictions. Ill say that this projector has blown me away. An amazing image, no light spills on to the ceiling or anywhere that its not meant to be...fan noise is reasonable as well. Because Ive yet to buy a sound system, Ive been using projector speakers, and honestly Ive been impressed. Im definitely not a fanboy, but Ive certainly been won over. Dont take my word for it, look at my pics and decide for yourself. If youre on the fence, hop off and buy the darn thing. You wont get a single regret from me.

Awesome picture quality. Bright enough for darker rooms. Meets expectations! Cons: 1. A bit too noisy for my taste. You can hear it during quieter scenes. 2. No horizontal keystone correction is bummer. I have to move my screen to perfectly align with the lens.

As advertised. Perfect for our home theater (dark room/no windows. Easy set up (ceiling/back of room), though be mindful of distance and measures. Hard to believe this is half the price of our epson 5040. Image quality is slightly better.

Benq ht3550 only lasted less than a year stopped working. Customer service from manufacturer is terrible, hard to reach. Do yourself a favor and purchase another brand.

Purchased directly from the BenQ site. This is my first projector and I am so happy I went with BenQ. I have been doing some research on projectors for a few months now, and BenQ products had better reviews that some of the more expensive stuff out there. The image quality is just outstanding. We paired the projector with a 110 Silver Ticket Products screen and WOW! The image does look better in a darker room (as it is described), but the image is still great with the lights on. Highly recommend this item.
