Triplet Reviews
Greater than one weekI have loved Blokus for years. I bought it this year for our 5-yr-old (at the time) triplets. They had no trouble understanding the rules. They dont always see the long-term strategy so sometimes we help them out by encouraging them when we see a good move to use one of the more awkward pieces, but without that, they can still play no problem. Unlike many games that are fun for kids, adults can still enjoy the strategy of the game, too. Usually when I play with the three kids, all three of them work together to attempt to block off my pieces so its actually pretty challenging for me, too. The only problem we have is that I wish the grid pattern were more defined to make pieces lock in place a little better. Its very easy to knock pieces out of position while putting a new piece on the board. I would also love for the bottom of the board (which is empty) to have a door on it to store pieces when not in use, but we just use a baggie so its not a huge deal. About the other varieties available: -I dont understand the existence of Blokus Jr. - dont bother, just get this. -I have had the two-player version of Blokus for decades. It has the same pieces, but the board is smaller. You cant just play with only two colors on the normal board because it is too big to make it difficult. If youre deciding between the two, get the bigger one, figure out how big the two-player board is and mark it off so you only use that portion of the board when playing with two people. -I have not played the three-player version, its probably worthwhile if three people often play since its a different shape.

> 3 dayEveryone loves this game. For 2 players I followed another reviewers suggestion of making lines 2 blocks in so the board is smaller. For 3 players, make lines 1 block in around the board. I used a thin permanent magic marker. The game is a challenge for everyone. Your children can even beat you.

> 3 dayNice sturdy box and plastic game board & pieces. A good game thats not difficult to learn but can be played again & again and trains spatial thinking. ... Kind of like Tetris :D ... Both my 7 & 10 year olds enjoy it. But beware, there are some colored block pieces are pretty small (3/8 square) and can get easily lost or swallowed :O ... so keep away from babies & small kids. Highly recommend!

> 3 dayBlokus Duo is a game created for just two players, opposed to the regular game blokus, which is for four players. As a avid fan of two player games, this one is nearly at the top of my list. It’s simplicity, speed of gameplay, and surprisingly deep strategy make it a great game to just pick up and play with just about anybody. Be aware that The game is competitive, and in order to win you have to ‘block’ your opponent. A poor sport may not Enjoy this game. I have not travelled with this game, but I do not think it would be a great travel game. The pieces don’t shift easily once played, but I imagine with bumps in a car holding it stable would prove difficult. Give it a try if you are a fan of the original blokus!
