We homeschool and are currently studying insects. This is a perfect visual learning tool that shows the stages of the butterfly. Very realistic looking.

I really debated buying these models. I was teaching my 2 year old about the butterfly life cycle and thought these would help me explain it, but honestly wasnt sure if shed get it or even care about it. Let me say, this was the greatest couple bucks Ive ever spent on a teaching tool. My daughter (26 month old) is FASCINATED with these figurines. I used them to explain caterpillars and butterflies to her and she totally understood it right away. All week she has been using the models to explain the butterfly cycle TO US. Her new favorite phrase is, caterpillar... make a chrysalis! She loves them. She even insisted we bring them out to dinner with us one night. The only unfortunate thing is she played with them so much this week, somehow the egg has gone missing. We spent 2 hours tearing apart the house the other night looking for that darn egg. No dice. Such a bummer. But its such a nice set I have actually considered buying it all over again just to get another egg for her. I also want to add, I grabbed these models at the same time that I placed an order for live caterpillars from the same company. I highly recommend getting them both together. Its one thing to see the models, but another to actually watch the caterpillars transform in front of your eyes.

I wish the egg had been smaller and on a leaf. I think keeping the size ratio correct across all 4 stages is important.

The children in my read-aloud session said that the plastic models made the stages of the life cycle more real than diagrams and pictures. They liked Insect Lores ladybug and praying mantis even more !!

I teach kindergarten and while we were waiting for our caterpillars to change we were able to see, touch, and play with this model. Awesome!!!

This is not a toy-- its the real thing. I bought this product for my 3 year old granddaughter. The whole process was a delightful learning experience for her and oh such joy!! We got ten caterpillars when we ordered and each one turned into a butterfly. The kit comes with everything you need to watch the caterpillars turn into butterflies. My granddaughter was able to hold the butterflies on her finger and talk to them before releasing them to the back yard.

Love it! My kids adore all the life cycle models - they give such a details complete idea of the life cycle of each insect.

My daughters class was raising caterpillars and we gave this to her teacher as a Teacher Appreciation gift. She loved it!
