I have never used kind of ink for my pixma but the canon brand. My pixma 100 set around for the year, no prints at all. When I decided to get back to printing, it took one test print and the printer was ready. I was amazed, and thankful the heads responded like they never set idle for 1full year. Only use the real stuff.

The ink cartridges, especially as an 8 pack are needlessly overpackaged. Ink cartridges are already an environmental bane that I begrudgingly have to use but they come with so much packaging waste it almost seems like its on purpose just to show an extra level of contempt for the environment. It could come as 8 individually wrapped cartridges in a box and thats all. Instead, it comes as a box with 8 individually boxed cartridges inside. Inside each individually boxed cartridge is an 8x11 sheet of paper of thorough installation directions and a plastic bag with the cartridge inside. The cartridge inside the bag is sealed in a plastic wrap and once removed you need to pry off the plastic cap seal. then you can FINALLY install it and enjoy its designed obsolescence short lifespan until you have to replace it again. Other than that, the product is fine.
