I prefer Casio CG50 to TI 84 CE. It simplifies square roots while TI only gives decimal answer. This means on multiple choice you have convert the exact answer to the decimal approximation. On graphs the Casio gives you the intercepts, etc without having to go through TIs lower/upper/guess to find them. When you are using Solvers Casio displays both exact square root and decimal approx. Too bad Texas textbooks and schools only issue TIs.

Easier to use than Texas Instruments 64

I need a calculator for college. I am a business major. I got it for $85 which seems like a much better deal than getting the TI-84 Plus CE color. Looks like it performs all the same functions as the TI and I was able to save around $70 which obviously makes any college student happy. Even without the sale, its still a good bang for your buck because the regular TI-84 that isn’t color costs more or similar than this.

It can graph derivatives, it can do integrals, explicit differentiation, and area under/between the curve(s). It auto-detects roots and intersections to choose boundaries, It is fast, It can graph 20 equations at a time, The batteries last 1 month+, It has y and x calc, it can even graph Y= X= r= and > < >= <= functions on the same graph. It also lets you go between the functions and graph without redrawing the graph! It can auto-generate tables from functions that include the derivative at that point, do conic graphing, run python, do 3d graphing, and even more that It even has Stat and Financial programs! It is like the Swiss army knife of calculators, and if it cant do something, look for a python script online that can do it, and load it onto the calculator from your computer!

This graphing calculator has absolutely all the features of equivalent HP graphing calculators, and more, for half the price. Turns out HP spends gobs of money on campaigns to get teachers all over the country to specify HP calculators in schools. Shame on you HP, and shame on the teachers that tow the line.

Having to use AAA batteries is worth what this calculator is capable of. Upsides: It graphs up to 20 functions in a fraction of the time of the ti 84. You can choose decimal or exact outputs for your calculations. It has statistics, spreadsheet, and even Python programming capabilities. It has an app specifically for calculating finances. It has a list of 6 different probability simulators. It has 50 or so different conversion capabilities. It has a massive list of commonly used constants in maths, physics, etc. It even has a built in periodic table with quick descriptions of where some of the elements can be found. It also has a test mode that can be activated, making it school test legal. Downsides: It’s possible to accidentally delete apps if you are unsure of what you’re doing. They can be easily recovered on Casio’s website however. It is not as user friendly as the TI series of calculators. It’s quite a bit more complicated than them, but is offset by the fact that it is capable of a lot more. Casio does have a hefty user guide online for it, which is nice if you really want to figure it all out. I am extremely pleased with this calculator. It was absolutely worth the sale price, and definitely worth its normal price. Since it can run Python programs, I’m going to try and get it to run Doom.

Ive been using this calculator for about a year and half, and it works extremely well. Ive used the TI-84,83,82,81 models. Theyre all decent, but this has an incredibly easy to use interface. This one is clear, easy to see, has a lot more features than the TI models, and is way cheaper. I actually gave away my TI when I started using this one because of how much better this one is. If you are going into either high school or college, I would highly recommend this calculator. The only thing is sometimes the menus can be a bit confusing, but overall its an incredible buy, and is always in my backpack.

American colleges pretty much push you to get the Texas Instruments calculator: the professors recommend them (and often dont know how to use other brands), and the textbooks have only instructions for that brand. However, I had owned a Casio scientific calculator for high school, and it was really good! Because of that, I got this one now for the college algebra and calculus classes. It is noticeably faster for graphing and easier to use compared to my classmates TI calculators. When the professor asks us to graph a problem, I always have to wait for everyones TI calculators to finish graphing before the class resumes. The thing is that this is another brand, so the instructions to use it somewhat different. It still shares a lot of similarities with the menus and keys of the TI calculators, which makes it quicker to familiarize yourself with the layout (I just watched YouTube videos on how to use it, and the rest I figured out myself by fooling around with the calculator). And many functions are easier to use on this calculator, too. For instance, calculating intersects is much easier: the TIs have extra steps, like choose the curves and guess where the intersect is; this Casio just finds it right away. If you want to find another intersect, just use the arrows to jump from one to the other. Finally, there are also the advantages that this calculator is way prettier and cheaper than the TI ones. It is weird, but I have received a couple of compliments on how cool it looks. And the screen looks even better than the competition. I know it sounds like Im some Casio shill or something, but really I am just posting my honest opinion because I am simply very, very satisfied with this calculator! I used to be worried that I had chosen this calculator over the recommended one for the class, but I have no regrets whatsoever now.

My school asked for it and it was mandatory for my school year to have this calculator. Anyway It takes a little getting used to but not to much and when you do it really is great. You can do many things and it makes life a lot easier when you learn how to use it right. definitely recommend it : )

Fast and loaded with features, but its too easy to enter into submenus accidentally and inconvenient to find and press the two keys needed to quit out of them.
