Greater than one weekImagine sitting down to play your beloved Catan game and then out of nowhere a 4th friend whats to join, what are you to do? Pull out the 5 and 6 player expansion of course! In all honestly I sort of wish this came in the base game but I understand why it doesnt. I will admit that the game slows down a lot when you add a 5th or 6th player but it is nice to have the option to expand the number of players.

> 3 dayOne of the few drawbacks of the base Settlers of Catan game is that it caps out at four players. This expansion is the perfect fix, allowing for a maximum of six players. At less than $20, it is a fair price, and cheaper than the other expansions such as Seafarers or Cities & Knights. My one complaint is that with the new pieces, everything does not fit into the original box. It would have been nice if a larger box had been provided so that everything could have been held together.

> 3 dayPricey, given that every expansion needs the extra, makes sence for the origional base game, but not at this point base game and expansions should have this included. That said, good quality and nice to be able to play with more people.

> 3 dayBEWARE: Some reviews state that they have been missing pieces so I suggest buying retail and price matching if the retail store allows so you can return/exchange if you have a defective set! Pros: Its Catan Cons: 1. Hexes, frame pieces, and resource cards are darker or lighter than the 5th edition that it was made for. 2. NONE of the frame pieces fit into the original game frame pieces so I had to cut some for it to fit and now the whole frame wobbles. 2.5?: Wish they gave a zip-lock type bag for the new numbers and dock pieces. Overall, if this wasnt Catan, I would have given this 1 star.

05-06-2025The game is great but the print quality of the 5th edition is quite poor. Very rough edges on the card board pieces and a little bubbling on some of the number token. None of the piece punch out cleanly requiring me to use an X-acto knife around the edges. I contacted Mayfair, but until they remedy the situation I would consider paying a little extra for the 4th edition instead.
