Climax Metal C-100 Shaft Collar, Zinc Plated Steel, Set Screw Style, One Piece, 1 Bore, 1-1/2 OD, 5/8 Wide, With 5/16-18 Set Screw

I liked the body of the of this shaft collar, and the only reason for the 3 stars is the threads as stated is wrong. I ordered thumb screws for these and it turned out that the set screw is 5/16-24 and not 5/16-18 as stated. It turns out that 5/16- 18 would have been better as there are more options in the size thread.

using to be a stop point for a tool rest on my lathe. plenty of space but no slop. not a machinist fit but not that it is needed for the application.

Worked as intended. Good machining. I also drilled and tapped some smaller set screws with no issues.

These things are the best standard barbell collars that I have ever come across. They keep the weight extremely tight to the bar. The only issue is that there is a great deal of variation in the the diameter of standard barbells…so check first before ordering.

Installs easily

Been using this for home gym barbells (10-15lb weight per side) as a more stable substitute for the elastic bands I previously used and have had no issues. The diameter was exactly as described and the collars have held with no loosening after a few dozen weightlifting sessions. Granted I keep the barbell level to the ground pretty much the majority of the time, the collars have not shifted any noticable amount after a fair amount of pressure on them over the past few weeks.

Set screw size is not correct. Please stop selling these with 5/16-18 in the description.

Set screw is NOT 5/16-18, its 5/16-24... at least the one they sent me. Probably doesnt matter to many, but I planned to replace the set screw with a threaded knob, so my project is now delayed while I either find a replacement or tap a new hole in this one.
