Best markers to use if you can afford them

These are nice markers. We bought them for our daughter because they were on sale for quite a discount. Normally her art budget means we get her Ohuhu or some other off brand alcohol marker. Decided to let her try these since they were the same price. She said she likes them and they are of equal quality to the cheaper ones we typically get her. If they are on sale we would consider them again, but they arent nice enough to merit the full price tag otherwise.

LOVED these alcohol markers. Theyre so easy to use. You could not believe how rich these colors look when applying them to your artworks. You can really tell these are quality markers by how clean the colors leave the paper. If youre looking forward to improving your art style THESE are the markers for you.

After getting a nice 32 pc copic set and seeing there werent a lot of browns/tans, I knew I was going to be hurting for drawing characters of different ethnicities. This set has a good basic variety of tones, and though Id still like to collect more, I can do a lot with these.

LOVE COPICS! I purchased this set to try out and Im so glad I got started with these. They blend really well and the fact they are refillable makes them a great value. A lot of people ask me what paper I use when I color with them and I use Strathmore Bristol Paper (smooth type). I now own over 200 of these markers, so its safe to say I enjoyed this purchase. I now use some other colors mixed in with these for skin tones, but if youre just starting out, this is a great set to play with.

These markers are AMAZING. I love the brush tips. I personally think they are better than Ohuhu’s, but are too pricey. I was just really disappointed that 2 of the markers were the wrong color. I received E000 instead of E13 and E93 rather than R20. I’m still upset but the markers are really great, just wish they sent the right products.

These are the real deal. If you want quality and performance from your markers, look no further. Yes, they are an expensive initial investment however, they are also made to last a lifetime with refillable ink and replacement nibs. That’s important to consider. If you are going to spend time creating your artwork, it only makes sense to use to the best quality markers. Copics are the industry standard.

I was so excited to find a set of markers that gave me some options for skin tones-- nothing is more frustrating than the lack of skin tone choices currently available! Reading up on copics, I noted that many people use layering techniques with this set to create additional tones; I havent yet tried that. These markers are incredibly smooth and easy for a novice to use. They do have a fairly strong odor akin to rubbing alcohol, so if you are sensitive, you may want to consider that.

Copic sketch markers in flesh tones are just the right colors I need for my comic art.

Being a newcomer to Copic markers, I wasnt entirely sure what to expect. Many artists I admire use Copics for coloring their drawings, so I decided to give them a shot. Needless to say, they fulfilled and even surpassed my expectations! Copic markers are often criticized for their high price tags, retailing from around five to eight USD, but upon receiving them, I understood why they retail at this price. They are incredibly high-quality markers, and some of the best for blending. Since Copics are alcohol-based, you are able to use them to layer your coloring more without worrying about tearing the paper. Personally, I much prefer the look of alcohol-based markers over other markers such as dye or water-based markers. The colors appear vibrant and beautiful on the page and compliment any drawing wonderfully. Copics, when used properly, should last you a fairly long time. Once the ink has run out, Copic offers replacement ink refillers which is a great alternative to being forced to buy many new markers. I have not yet had to refill my markers so I cant say how well this works from personal experience, but Ive heard from others that refilling Copics is an easy and rewarding process. There are a few things beginners like me should be wary of when using Copics, however. As with any other marker, there is always the possibility of smudging your lineart if youre like me and tend to ink a sketch before coloring it. This can also unfortunately apply to pencil eraser smudges; I have often had eraser smudges appear much more visibly on my coloring with them being near-impossible to remove. A great way to avoid this is photocopying a high-quality scan your lineart and instead coloring the scan to avoid the risk of messing up the original. If youre a beginner to using Copics, the skin tone pack is a great place to start your collection. If you tend to draw characters or portraits, skin tones will definitely be a necessity. This is where I started my Copic collection, and the high quality of the skin tone pack impressed me enough to add many more Copics to my collection since. In conclusion, if you have interest in finding a good marker, these are a great, albeit pricey choice. If youre on-the-fence about purchasing these markers, you might find it a better option to purchase one color individually to make sure you enjoy them before wasting your money on a product you dont enjoy. Many stores such as Micheals allow you to test the marker on a piece of scrap paper before buying it. If you do feel confident about buying these markers, however, I say go for it! Their high quality and long-lasting color is well worth the price.
