Ive been using this program with a drawing tablet, both of these things are completely new and foreign to me. I have very little experience in digital art so its been a pretty steep learning curve. Im an avid graphite and ink user so this is just really out of my element.

I think this is a fine entry-level program for the non-artist or the artist new to digital painting. I am not an artist but play with simple graphics for my own amusement. I had tried at least one previous iteration of Painter and was quickly overwhelmed with the options. This version gets around that by limiting the options and permitted user variations. The most noticeable of that being that users cannot tweak the settings to create their own brushes and then save that brush for later use. A professional artist might find that a limitation but for a casual user like me that is really not an issue, given the huge--HUGE--number of preprogrammed brushes. For those who dont anticipate creating original art but do want to enhance or just plain play with existing images, there is Auto-Paint, which lets you take any picture and convert it into styles suggestive of classical techniques: from Smooth Acrylic to Pastel to French Impressionist to Van Gogh. The program supports Layers, a Tracing function, a Text tool and, of course, painting from scratch. Overall, Painter Essentials is a non-intimidating introduction to painting software for the novice and, compared to expensive fully-featured packages, a fair value.

I shouldve looked deeper into reviews before I got this. It wouldnt download onto my windows HP..it would either take hours just to get to 27% or it would stay at 0%. When I looked up ways to get it to work you had to literally shut off all of your computers protection which was weird. I sent it back and got a different one from best buy (ultimate paintshop pro 2021)..just for it to have the exact same program on it..I had to message customer support to get it to download. They had me shut all my protection and administrator stuff off. It did download and its a decent program but kinda wishing I went with something else with a bit more options to it.

This software allows you to turn your photographs into digital art, much like a very simplified app and turn your photos into paintings through their filters. The difference is, do you have control is in variety of brushes, styles, and options, all of which are fairly simple to use and straightforward. I appreciate the fact that there’s not much of a learning curve, and that you can control what you do with your image pretty effectively. Nice results, and fun to use once you get the hang of it!

This is my first time trying editing software and WOW...really overwhelming how much you can do. My head is still spinning and I’m sure I’ll be discovering new features and ways to create art almost endlessly. I would have given it 5 stars but it’s a little complicated for me, maybe just because I’ve never used anything like this before....fortunately there are a ton of tutorials online to help navigate it

Will not download to computer.

I am new to digital painting and was looking for a program that was easy and intuitive. This one fits the bill. Installation was simple and straightforward. there are excellent training videos to help you learn the program. while experienced digital artists might feel limited, the program is ideal for beginners. There are plenty of options but not an overwhelming number. it is fun to play with no frustrating glitches or tricks. It will take some time before I master it but it is an entertaining skill to learn. This program is well designed, accessible and interesting. Well done.

I use this photo editing software more than photoshop elements.

Like a lot of people, I imagine, using software like this, Im mostly using it to transform photos into paintings or other special effect looks. Its a lot of fun to do this, and quite easy! I was able to figure out how to make it work in minutes, and I loved seeing my photos transform. I do have to say its pretty slow. I am running this on a brand new laptop which is pretty top of the line, and still, it takes minutes to get the photos changed.
