08-06-2025I do a lot of art and design type projects and this tape measure is my new favorite! I love the auto lock feature and I find the white background is so much easier to read than the traditional yellow. Also, the increments between the inches are actually labeled as 1/8, 1/4, 1/2...etc., something Ive never seen before. This may not be suitable for a general contractor or someone in construction, but for a person who who does small woodworking projects and often makes my own canvas frames, the labeling that way is AWESOME & makes denoting the measurements super easy; its probably my favorite feature. I gave my big heavy Milwaukee tape measure to my husband - I like this one so much better!

> 3 dayWhen I entered my upper 40s I lost my visual ability to see things close up. I bought 6 pair of reading glasses and stashed them all over the house. Well I just received this tape measure for my 50th birthday and now I want to stash 6 of these all over the house. I have several tape measures of various brands, styles and age. Previously my favorite was a 25 Komelon self-lock but it had standard measurements on one side of the tape and metric on the other. Ive already established that I cant see things that are not at least arms length away and the Komelon tape was hard to read. I liked that the tape automatically stayed out w/o having to be locked with a lever but I did not like that it would continue to let out tape if I held on to the tape at 1 and let the body fall from the top of a ladder. This Craftsman corrects everything I did not like about the Komelon and has an added benefit I did not know I needed (wanted). This is a 25 tape with standard measurements only. (The 26 has both). It will not recoil the tape until I summon it and I can lock it even more securely so I can lower the body as far as I want to a certain distance without it falling all the way to the floor or uncoiling to the 25 mark. The added benefit is that the tape is white. I had no idea it would be so much easier to read than yellow. Every inch is marked in black on the top of the tape and every eighth increment is marked in red at the bottom of the tape. Stud references are marked in a red block every 16. I loved it so much I bought a second one at 25 and one at 16. I want to buy about 10 more and use them for stocking stuffers in a few months. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. I am completely satisfied with this purchase and I highly recommend the product.

> 3 dayTape refused to retract into housing after several uses. Forced to return it and seek a refund. Not happy that it turned out to be a fairly low quality measuring tape from a reputable brand.

> 3 day4 stars because the sturdiness of the tape itself isn’t very sturdy so if that’s what you’re looking for just buy a Stanley fatmax, they are in my opinion the best in the industry when it comes to measuring tapes.
