I was finding the 12x12 size to be a little meager, so I purchased this bigger mat, and am happy with it. Should have purchased this one to begin with, but ah well.

I would recommend using a mat with any press project. Smoother, more-even press than with a folded towel. Perfect size.

Glad I ordered from Amazon instead of cricuts site or michaels or joanns! It was much cheaper on Amazon. Came quick. Its used almost daily. The size is perfect for adult t shirts which i make a lot of for my business.
