> 24 hourKeep It Simple Stupid! Nice, simple, strong tool set that should be in your tool box. These offer just the right amount of force and delicacy for nail setting and hinge pin removal. A few snaps and you will set your nail head below the wood or remove your hinge pin without marring or damaging the surrounding wood.

> 24 hourPositives: Priced affordably enough that even a casual DIYer should get one. The nail set does a decent job setting small nails and staying on the head. The hinge pin driver also does a pretty good job of knocking the door hinge pins loose. This is a well priced and functional set for most people’s toolbox. Less positive/things to consider:I also own a nail set/hinge pin driver made by Ares. There is a clear difference in the two sets. Aside from the slight difference in length, (see second picture) the Ares set feels noticeably heavier. Obviously, in a spring punch set, extra weight is extra force on impact. For most people, probably not a big deal, but if you are doing it all day, one strike is better than two. The slightly longer length also make the Ares a little easier to handle, but again, only significant if you use it a lot. The second thing I was less than thrilled with was the actual design of the grooves. They are milled out straight grooves, which means you are pulling on and sliding a fairly rigid edge when you pull and release against those grooves, they aren’t rounded or smoothed out at all. This makes for a good gripping edge, but it could get rather abrasive in a hurry on your finger pads if you have to use them for an extended period of time. Takeaway: Very decent set for most DIYer toolboxes. Not as heavy or refined as some others (Ares), but at 1/3 the price, they are a much more budget friendly option for most people, and still do the job just fine.

> 24 hourAt first, I thought it was a bit of a gimmick but at the price, I figured Id give it a try. Ive only used it on oak and pine so far. On the oak it leaves a decent mark, on the pine, It really leaves an impression :).

> 24 hourThese sure beat the heck out of my normal method of removing hinge pins. Hold in place, stretch, and release. The pins fly in or out of the hinge, depending which way you are going. I tried the nail set on some old trim nails and it set them deeper without any trouble at all. No more nail sets needed and no more finding a small screwdriver and a hammer to get pins out.

> 24 hourI have a set of various sized nail setters that have seen a lot of use over the years, but have never seen a spring-loaded setter until I saw this set. At first, I decided against ordering it... just couldn’t see how it would work... but decided to give it a chance. After playing around with it for a while, it won’t replace my old school nail setters, but there are applications where this is a very handy tool to have on hand. It does deliver more force than I expected. Additionally, you get the hinge pin removal tool, which actually does a decent job and reduces the risk of damaging a door with an errant hammer tap. For the price, there is no excuse for not adding this to your tool kit.

> 24 hourI hate the old nail sets; they constantly slip off the finish nail and now I have a perfect impression of the nail set in my work piece. But I was suspicious of this style using a spring instead of a hammer. O. K. I was wrong, these things are great. It is so easy to hold the set on the nail head with one hand and snap the spring with the other. These nail sets are well made and easy to use and set the nail at the depth I want first snap. If youre looking for nail sets you should give these a try. And having a hinge pin is a nice extra.

> 24 hourPros: 1) It only took 3 hits with the hinge pin punch to remove the hinge. Word to the wise, once you loosen most of the hinge, dont fully load a hit or it might shoot the hinge into the air. I think...I mean, Im guessing...I mean, probably dont do that. 2) The hinge pin punch also works to put the hinge back in place - no more accidentally hitting the door casing with the hammer. No more hammer. 3) No more hammer to set nails - again probably good to test out how much pull these actually need to do their job. You could easily overdo it, not that it would be the end of the world, just test a few times to get a feel for it or go easy to start with. 4) I like the two sizes for the nail set, a finer point and a beefier point. I would definitely use the finer point with my pin nails. Cons: 1) I dont see anything wrong with these. Ill keep using them and update if anything pops up.

> 24 hourThis combo kit is fantastic. As a contractor I’m always looking to innovate or make things easier. I’m constantly testing new products and most fail. But every now and then, something comes along that helps ease some of the pain. Setting nails is never an easy project and can cause wood damage if done wrong, not counting a bruised finger or two. I’ve been using these nail sets now for over 4 months and have to say they will put normal nail sets out of business. These are so convenient and work well on the vast majority of finish nails. As for the hinge pin remover, I’m sure there’s a whole lot of carpenters, handymen, homeowners, maintenance guys and gals who have used every type of tool or nail or screw they can find to get those stubborn hinge pins loose. I’ve only used this hinge pin tool about a dozen times, but it has worked every single time. As a fellow craftsman, I’m giving these 5 stars. They work fantastic and are priced more than fair.
