Dove Refillable Deodorant Starter Kit 0% Aluminum Cucumber & Green Tea Aluminum Free Deodorant 1.13 oz

I was so excited to get this - I really try to minimize the amount of trash I send to the landfill. I saw the potential problem right away. There’s no support for the deodorant refill. So within a few days it broke and fell off and went flying across the bathroom floor…had to throw the pieces away. Wasted money, wasted product. They need to create a reusable holder that looks and works just like the disposable one. Then I will definitely buy again.

I purchased this product because I liked the regular style with the turn / click base, but really liked the environmentally conscious refill aspects of this one, so I purchased it to try it out. First try, I put it together which was super easy, and then attempted to apply it to my armpits. The stick broke off of the holder, right at the base. It was a clean break, so I couldnt try popping it back in. There isnt a tube for it, so I would have to hold the actual deodorant to apply it without the holder. Messy fingers, no thanks. Great idea, but poor design. I tried to salvage it by sticking it in my old click/turn deodorant. Doesnt have the same shape, so that didnt work either.

Smells great but in a within a few hours the scent diminishes AND you need put more on. Does not last all day.

Loved the refillable factor; not so much the metal base, not sure how that would be for getting through airport security. Seemed to work well to replace the Adidas product I have used for years. Issue is that it broke off during my second day of use. Not a fan of it hitting the floor or having to use my fingers. So basically wasted my money

This is a fantastic way to use less plastic for a good price. I previously used the regular version of this whose only real benefit over this was it was bigger, I realized that at the same time that was also one of its biggest downsides with how easy it is to carry this one around with me in my backpack on those long days (which often are multiple days long) I’ve been using these for some time now, gone through seven sticks (the original that came with it and three dual packs) I’ve yet to have an issue where the stick detached from the base or breaks while applying (or breaks at all for that matter) I don’t know if Dove made any changes after people had complained of this happening or if some people are just really aggressive while applying their deodorant, either way, I love this stuff and hope for more scents and larger packs to come

This is a nice idea- to get away from single use, disposable deodorant tubes. However, the largest part of the case is the lid- the part you actually hold is somewhat small, making it difficult to maneuver at times. I hope Dove designs a different case in the future. Also, its somewhat discouraging to note that the refills are smaller in size than the single-use tubes. Update: after a weeks worth of use, the refill broke off from the base. Super disappointed.

BOTTOM LINE: The quality of the deodorant is very good & I will continue to use it. Ive been using this daily for a few weeks and Ive traveled with it. Because it sits on top of the base, you get the feeling of having to put it on gently, otherwise itll break. So I use it only from the top. When you put it on, its really smooth. The fragrances are nice and really lasts. The lid comes off fairly easy, which can be annoying. This is truly a travel size deodorant. About half the size of a passport. I recommend a toiletry bag when traveling. It needs a magnetic close or slightly stronger clicking system for closing.

I was so excited for the concept of this deodorant because it was aluminum free and cuts out a majority of the plastic. The packaging could have definitely been sustainable, it did not need to be packaged like it was a new iPhone. But most importantly, the lid won’t stay on as it doesn’t click onto the bottom, and the actual deodorant stick is super super fragile! As you take the lid off you are bound to gouge into the sides of it. However, after first use, just typical application, the whole stick broke off and fell in the floor!! Now, I will be throwing away almost a brand new, durably made, product, which is the exact opposite of the purpose of this deodorant! Buy paper tube deodorant if you are doing it for that aspect, if you like the aluminum free, I would just buy it in the plastic tube, it’s cheaper and won’t crumble into your hands.

After reading previous reviews of other users, I dont dare close the container completely for fear that the stick will break and become useless. I also hold the stick itself when I apply. So far so good. The container looks nice on the bathroom counter top, too bad I cant close it completely. The product works fine for normal, daily use. It did not work on a day I was very stressed and wearing polyester.

I love the idea of reducing plastics and carbon emissions, however the deodorant itself broke off of the holder after a couple of weeks of gentle use. Since the entire thing, about 2 inches, is exposed , it is much to easy to break it off.
