CONTEXT I needed white ink for a calligraphy project and wasnt quite sure what to use. After some research, I found that a lot of calligraphers swore by Dr. PH Martins Bleedproof White, so I got on it ASAP! PROS - Its OPAQUE!!!! Oh my goodness, the opaqueness of this stuff is an absolute dream. ESPECIALLY if youre like me and like to use watercolors, this will absolutely change your life. - It is easy to use, ONCE you figure out how to use it (LOL). See my cons for more on this. - The ink is smooth to use and flows beautifully. CONS - When you initially open the bottle, the ink is VERY THICK. The consistency looks like goopy acrylic paint. So, if you were to use the ink with a nib pen or watercolor brush, youd find very quickly, you CANT. So basically, you cannot use this straight out of the bottle. - To use it, you need to add water, BUT not too much and not too little (finicky little ink). Youll want to add just the right amount for your medium, naturally. For me, I added more water, as I do like the watercolor look and feel. If you arent sure about where you should be, you can always watch a video on YouTube about it. - Because you have to add water to the ink, youll likely need another little canister to store whatever you mix. Not a big deal if youre an artist, since youll likely already have some extra paint pots. OVERALL I love this stuff. Once I figured out how to use it, I couldnt believe I didnt already have this in my arsenal. Whether you need it or not, great to have in your tool belt.

Invaluable white ink to touch-up highlights in watercolor paintings. Very good product.

I really didnt find this particularly good to work with. I thought I would be able to lay it down on a spot to cover a mistake and then paint over it. But it doesnt work that way. If you put paint over it...it just muddies up the color. Might be fine if you could put it over a spot and then not let any other paint touch it. I might have been using it incorrectly but just didnt think it lived up to reviews I have readd.

This product is a game changer for a watercolor painting where it’s difficult to impossible to add highlights or light color over dark. This product makes that possible, though not for a watercolor purist, which I am not. The more I use it, the more I love it.

I use this for calligraphy purposes. This is THE white ink to use in my opinion as it is a perfect full bodied white ink. It will definitely not bleed as it says on the bottle (duh). There is this beautiful joy that comes with writing with the perfect ink. And this joy makes me a better person at the end of the day because I am not frustrated, I am not retracing my letters, and I am definitely not throwing away a piece of written work because the ink decided to have a mind of its own. Just a hint for those that do use this ink for calligraphy purposes: take just a little bit of paint from the bottle and mix it in a separate well with a little bit of water until you get the right consistency that will work with your nib. The paint is a little thick - but this is good because now it is completely customizable and a little bit goes a long, long, way!

This product is unlike the liquid watercolors due to the in the fact that The jar does not create an airtight seal and the actual product dries out very quickly and is unusable after a few weeks in my experience.

Super frustrated with this product - the needles - despite being cleaned stuck together and now the product is basically useless to me and I was only able to use it 3 times. UUUGGGHHHH

Fantastic, I use it for drawing with a pen and different nibs. Its quite thick so I dilute it with a bit of water and mix it as I go and it reliably stands out great, pure white on the black paper I use. I have to clean the nibs regularly, it dries pretty fast. Exactly what I was looking for. I happily discovered that thick lines make ridges that can be used as cloisonne, I use pastel pencils between the lines. UPDATE: I just bought another bottle, I love this ink and have been using it exploring different antique nibs. I get great pleasure from varying the pressure on the nib and watching the white ink on the black paper. I bet itd be good with brushes too. I also like the pot and its wide opening.
