So, what I am gathering from all of the comments is that this is not a set for the mere novice ( unless they happen to be an adult or very creative young adult)? I am an extremely experienced with all of these tools, what Im looking for is a nice compact set with everything I need now that Im pretty immobilized due to a terminal illness.

This is a great set for beginners, the variety included helps practice techniques. Good to see pastels and sketch books also in the set, though I would recommend buying additional sketch books to go with this. I bought it for myself as Im getting back to sketching after a few years and it works well so far. Looks like it is giftable too as the set comes in a sturdy case.

Pencils seem quality, also includes needed tools. Sadly the case is quality, but zippering is epic failure. See my fix to keep from constantly losing that zipper into the case. Seems a lot of manufacturing leaves off the necessary metal or plastic stop.

It is a wonderful tool for a.y artist.

This would be great for a kid that has no idea what they are doing. The best thing is the case to me

This is a gift for my little cousin who’s getting into drawing...I think it’s perfect and has everything he will need to start doing something he enjoys.
