> 3 dayHave it setup as a passive tap and works well. The case is a little flimsy for the price and dont expect it to hold up all that well as a traveling companion for pentesting.

> 3 day... I think the last time I was this excited about a network device I was 13 years old and my mom got me a 2400 baud modem for my birthday. The unit works exactly as described, it mirrors port 1 to port 5, leaving the remaining 3 ports as regular switched ethernet ports (though port 2 is also the PoE passthrough, which I havent had the chance to test to that extent). It couldnt be more straight forward than it is. The USB power is fairly cool, I can imagine it being very practical when youre near a server rack trying to sort stuff out. Right now Im actually using an iphone wall socket to power the unit since my router and switch is rather far away from my workstations. Works just fine. But I see a soldering iron in my future if/when that cable breaks (still beats scavenging ebay for a compatible power supply, waiting for it to be delivered, etc). The manual is...well...a single page that describes the device. There is no setup instructions or common scenarios, nothing. And thats ok, this isnt for the uninitiated anyway. If you cant figure out how to connect a switch tap youll never get wireshark display filters to work for you anyway... 5 star for price, features, ease of use and I could ding them for the manual, but I wont. Its fine the way it is.

> 3 daywas used to carrying around old dumb switches to do packet captures and they usually die as they were old to begin with and the final straw was one dying in the middle of client down situation.....so in looking for another replacement stumbled across this unit had never heard of the vendor before but they had some big names on their site for what thats worth but getting back to the product in replacing an old hub I this rig can fulfill another roll as a replacement switch should a client lose one in addition to its primary roll and I thought the price was reasonable I do not use it constantly but when I have used it to do some traces it has worked as advertised

> 3 dayI work from home about 50% of the time. I run a few systems and every once in awhile i would glance over at my cable modem and watch it flashing when there is no apparent work being done. I always wonder what is so chatty. Well, being pretty technical does not help. After adding this box inside the firewall, loading a copy or wireshark and snort, it is easy to see what is talking and to whom. This is not only for security experts, but anyone technical that wants to know what packets are really moving around the network and what is talking to the internet. An excellent product. A+

> 3 dayIs nil. Or very very nearly nil. I have ATT Fiber 1000 and you can see...those are within the range of my test results without the tap inline (in this case between the ATT modem and my main router). I am blown away. Ive used several other consumer grade 1Gbe taps and notice anywhere from 5-25% decrease in speed. So for the price this is badass! VERY pleased. And its super convenient that I could power it off the ATT modems USB port!

> 3 dayI do a lot of low level Ethernet packet analysis and this is a simple solution to use along with Wireshark for monitoring network traffic. Since you cant find hubs anymore this is a better solution that a switch which can hide traffic for things other than broadcasts.

> 3 dayI found the DCGS-2005L to perform exactly as advertised. It is straightforward to set up and use. Its small size and weight make it a good addition to a IT persons go-bag. My one complaint, and why the 4 instead of 5 stars is that; Fot the price they could have thrown in a wall wart. Otherwise I think it was a good value.
