16-11-2024Just what I needed for short jobs. It comes with a convenient hanger to put it up on the wall & the charger threads through that. It came with a 2 yr. warranty and was easy to register. The quick start guide was great and within a couple of minutes I was using it. It doesnt hold a charge for too long, maybe 10 minutes, but thats enough vacuuming for me. I use a robot vacuum to do most areas but it doesnt do corners or around furniture legs so the combo is working for me.

Greater than one weekIve always preferred canister vacuums, because the wand and hose are much easier to move and maneuver, but it can be a pretty big pain to drain around the canister. The Dyson V8 solves that, because its basically just the wand portion of my canister vacuum without a cord or bulky canister unit. Along with the vacuum, you get several accessories: a wall-mounted dock, a crevice tool, a brush tool, an upholstery tool, and the powered floor attachment. The dock has two slots to store the crevice and brush tools, but theres no obvious place to store the upholstery attachment. The wall dock has a cable channel and clip to hold the included charging cable, so that you can just slot the vacuum into the mount for storage and charging. Unfortunately though, the cable isnt easily removable after you attach the dock to your wall, because the cable channel is on the backside of the dock. If you decide not to use the dock, then you can still recharge the vacuum by just plugging in the charging cable. Theres a switch to toggle between normal and high power mode and a momentary trigger switch to turn on the vacuum. The trigger does need to be held down to keep powering the vacuum, but fortunately, it doesnt take much strength to depress the trigger button. The V8 does not have a trigger lock, but a quick search on Amazon shows that there are a lot of third party options to add a lock if you want it. The V8 battery is rated for 40 minutes at normal power, but that drops to 25-35 minutes if youre using the powered floor attachment. In our usage, we found those numbers to be pretty accurate. Thats just enough runtime to vacuum the hardwood floors in our 3-bedroom house. If you turn on the high power mode, the runtime drops to just a few minutes. Unfortunately, the recharge time is 5 hours. You can buy an extra battery, but you wont be able to charge it in the wall dock, so youll also have to get an extra charging cord. Swapping batteries on the V8 also requires a screwdriver to release the battery. The V8 is a really nice vacuum overall, but the limited battery life makes it best to use with smaller spaces or as a secondary vacuum for cleaning up messes.

20-11-2024I got this Dyson v8 to replace my v6 animal and its a great upgrade. I can clean my upstairs and downstairs before the battery dies. It has much stronger suction power and extra filtration. The max mode still runs the battery down faster so I avoid using it unless needed. The dust bin slides out for easy emptying, the vacuum is very lightweight and it can easily clean under tight spaces. Another great vacuum cleaner by Dyson.

Heyburds!
Greater than one weekI tried using a Dyson years ago when they came out. Great cordless vacuum, but you MUST hold down the on button for it to work, nor will it stay upright alone. Honestly, after all these years it has not changed much. I have carpel tunnel so having to hold an on button on gets painful after a few minutes. Not sure why it does not stand alone either, basic vacuums that cost less have this convenient feature. The positives: suction is fantastic and there are 2 settings. The vacuum does not make a lot of noise and is nice looking. It is lightweight and hangs on the wall, remember it does not stand by itself. The holding tank is a decent size too and cleaning it is simple enough. Unfortunately, because of my hands this is not the right vacuum for me. Did I mention the suction is the BEST?? Dyson needs to upgrade the simple things on this vacuum.

> 3 dayTotally unacceptable. I was given and defective machine and still get charged $85 for a restocking fee? This should be criminal. What an absolute joke.

> 3 dayMy starting point is having an old Dyson ball vacuum cleaner. That was great when we had carpet because of the suction power but now that we have wood and tile floors I really need something a bit more versatile. The stick vacuum takes up less space in the closet, easy to use that the kids can vacuum as part of their chores, and I love that I can use the small detached vacuum for the car and sofa…getting all those kiddy krumps.

Greater than one weekHaving to hold the trigger button down to keep the power running is the only thing I would ask to be different. Lightweight, Great suction, great battery life, super easy to use and clean! Easy to empty and long hairs don’t get tangled in the special beaters. Thay thought of everything including attachments and how easy they are to attach. Topping it off with a wonder wall hanging charging station!!

> 3 dayI rented a condo in Florida this year they had this Dyson in the unit... I loved it! I came home and bought one for myself and am not disappointed. The only issue I have with the vacuum itself is that it says that it has a 40 minute charge. Ive discovered that I can only vacuum one floor of my house at a time before it runs out of battery life (about 15 minutes). Mine was obviously built in Mexico because ALL of the directions came in Spanish so I had to figure out how to put it together and hang it up without instructions. I ended up calling Dyson directly and they sent me online videos which were perfect. I love the vacuum, I just wish it held the charge as long as its advertised to do.

Greater than one weekI picked up this Dyson V8 to replace my aging Shark vacuum that I do love, but they no longer make that model any more so I cant replace it with the same cleaner. Id shopped around looking at some other stick vacs but wasnt sure which one to go with, and Id always heard that Dysons were one of the best. So I was pretty excited to give this one a try. Its said to have about 40 minutes of runtime, depending on the setting being used. I cant say Ive had it last quite that long for me. Fortunately, I dont often need that much time with this, since Im using it just on the main level of my home which is all hardwood floors and a few rugs. I could vacuum my whole home in 40 minutes and Im pretty certain I couldnt get enough runtime with this to clean my whole home. Im wondering if the 40 minutes of time would be if it was fully charged and just turned on, not actually using it where it gets resistance on the floor from debris and such? Not to say the battery has a super short lifespan. Just that I think Ive been getting a bit less than that. The suction power is outstanding. I have several large dogs and its springtime, so they are shedding everywhere right now. I have to vacuum my main level every other day or else theres so much fur you could make rugs out of it all. This cleaner does a great job of getting all the hair, dirt, crumbs and such that are all around the floors. It also pulls up the hair from the rugs at the front and back door quite well, and my carpeted stairway. It stores and charges nicely with the included mounting kit. However if you dont want to set up or install the wall mount you can plug the charging cable directly into the cleaner. I think Dyson may have recently changed up their V8 design, because Im seeing a lot of information online from previous years where people mention two brush heads. One being a hard floor attachment and one for carpeting, both large full size vacuum heads. That is not what they come with now. The V8 I received comes with 1 full size cleaning head called a Motorbar. It looks to be a two in one design, so you dont need to switch out between the two heads any more. And then there are several smaller cleaning head attachments as well. The hair tool is a good size for cleaning stairs. Thats what Ive been using to clean up the dog hair on mine and it picks up quite well. Overall Im really happy with the V8. It has a ton of power for a stick vacuum cleaner. They claim its quiet, and I agree its much less noisy than the vast majority of cleaners Ive used. And what I appreciate the most about it is that its just as powerful at cleaning stairs with a small attachment connected as it is when its cleaning the floors with the main cleaning head. It seems every vacuum I use, it is lacking in this area. I usually struggle to get my stairs clean. But the V8 does it all. Love it!
