Greater than one weekId been wanting to get a projector for some time. After a fair amount of research and real-life observation of various models in use at sports bars, Id decided to get one of the Epson lcd models. Replacement bulbs for this model are reasonably priced. I opted for the 2040 over the 2045 as the Widi functionality wasnt worth $50 to me. After having this in place for several weeks I can wholeheartedly recommend it to others. I have mine set to approximately 100 projecting on to an inexpensive 100 screen in my basement. It has met all of my expectations. If youre in the market for a projector, the 2040 provides impressive performance for the price. I would definitely buy it again.

> 3 dayDespite all the review about the the lamp. We purchased our project in 2017 and out lamp replacement warning flashed late 2022. We’ve had no issues this far with this projector. The primary use is home theater, day and night, but we’ve enjoyed it outdoors as well. We’ve even watch 3D movies on it. Only con was when hooking up the sound shakers due to the audio cord. We tried multiple adapters but it was just easier and less cord to hook it up to the sound bar. We still Highly recommend this projector

Greater than one weekSo this is my first projector and I am sold. I probably read hundreds of reviews on different Epson projectors and I eventually chose this one for price and capabilities. I had a 60inch Vizio E series tv before this and I was very to go bigger without buying a bigger tv. I havent noticed any difference in quality when comparing the projector to my tv which is great. I will admit though that my tv in my bedroom which is a M series has more clarity than the projector. That being said, I know there are projectors that have better quality but I had a budget which was under 1k and I haven not been disappointed at all with this projector! If you want your 1080HD experience then this projector is the way to go. It also does really well for lights being on. I have windows and a lot of natural light that gets into my den and this projector holds up well in lighting, even in Eco mode. If you want super crisp and clean then clearly a more expensive projector like the 3000 series is the way to go. I do intend to one day upgrade to the top notch kind of projector, but for now this one is perfectly fine when considering I now have virtually a 150 tv for only a hundred dollars more than my 60. I took two pictures. One is the Apple tv screen which shows the great clarity and the other is of a movie I was watching. The quality was based on my actual internet which isnt the best, but when it is streaming well the quality is great!

08-06-2025I want to give it 4.5 stars and it deserves it. I have had a couple glitches, cant seem to hook a sound bar up to it for one and it has just stopped on me a few times. I have it on a 4X7 screen and Im glad I have it. I researched projectors for 3 weeks, reading everything I could get my eyes on, visiting home theater stores, talking to people with projectors and I ended up with this. It was between this and the BenQ and the price and durability of bulbs pushed me in this direction. Im pleased.

> 3 day********** This is my first review. Wants to be helpful. No one paid me for this review *********** Great customer service – Amazon ============================== Purchased Epson 2040 from Amazon on Prime day sale for $499. Used for 35 days. Noticed focus issue on 35 th day. Yes its too late. Amazons return policy is 30 days. Called amazon customer service and explained the problem. Customer service person was very helpful and gave me options of refund or replacement. I chosen replacement option as its best deal for such a wonderful projector. Amazon shipped new projector with two day shipping for same price even though I am not a prime member now. Great customer service amazon About Epson 2040 ================= I was using LG PA75U 720P LED projector for past 4 years which stopped working recently. I was in the search of new projector. Based on my need and hours of research, I short listed two projectors - Epson 2040 and Benq HT2050. I was able to compare both projectors side by side during day & night and with lights on/off. Though Benq HT2050 had slightly higher rating both from users and professional reviewers, I decided to go with Epson 2040 for below reasons Lower price (Epson - $499 vs Benq - $650 ) during my search for projectors Brighter and sharper image Watchable even during daytime with windows open Image is too bright (even in ECO mode) during nighttime even with lights on Longer lamp life (7500 hours in ECO mode) Cheaper lamp replacement cost ( $70 to $90 ) Portable and light weight Convenient lens cover Lower fan noise 2 year warranty I would recommend Epson 2040 if your requirements are like mine Wants to have 100 inch or larger HDTV Wants to have brighter and best picture Wants to use projector in living room Wants to use projector with lights on Wants to use projector during daytime or night time Wants to use projector as HDTV Wants to use projector 4 or more hours every day Does not want to spend half of the projector cost to replace its lamp

> 3 dayI had a Epson DLP projector from 2005 that gave a nice 720p picture - so when it came time to replace it, I thought Id buy another Epson. I am not disappointed. In fact this model is SOOOOO much better. The picture is sharp from corner to corner. Bright and full saturated color. I keep it on the economy setting and it is silent. In regular mode it makes very little fan noise. I keep the auto-iris turned off. It makes an annoying noise and doesnt help the picture. Im not sure what they were thinking when they added that feature. It throws a 100 picture in a 8 foot space. The lens is amazingly sharp. There is supposed to be a problem with contrast with LED projectors, but this one makes blacker blacks than my 11 year old DLP. I watch a lot of old movies in black-and-white and again this projector blows away the old DLP. Add to that a lamp replacement cost of under $70 compared to the $450 for the old model and the 8000 hour lamp life and you have a compelling reason to get this one. A great projector, a great picture (the Super Bowl looked amazing). The 3D is totally immersive. It looks like stuff comes right off the screen in front of you. Very effective. I got Panasonic and Samsung glasses and they both work perfectly with the Epson. I bought a grey screen to cut down on light scatter. My room doesnt get very dark, yet the picture is perfect. I am very happy with my new projector and recommend it very highly.

> 3 dayBackground: I am nearly finished with a large and expensive remodel involving adding a playroom and bathroom to my house. I love home theatres so I installed a 7.2 sound system and painted a 110” screen on the far wall bordered by 3” felt tape. My intention all along was to spend $2700 on the Epson 5040ub upscaling UHD projector that I know from personal experience produces a fantastic image. The reality: after a year of remodel and hemorrhaging cash I couldn’t justify spending $2700. I read a ton of reviews and nearly pulled the plug on a Optoma HD DLP projector that got rave reviews here on Amazon. The significant drawback was the presence of rainbow artifact related to DLP projectors. Within the reviews for the Optoma this projector was mentioned as the replacement the person made after sending the Optoma back. All I can say is I am thrilled I read that users review. My review: this Projector cost about $100 more than the Optoma which I felt was a tiny sacrifice for rainbow free images. It installed easily albeit much closer than I had planned since it does not have an electronic zoom like the 5040ub. Keystone, focus and zoom were easy enough to adjust. The good: 1. Terrific clarity and detail of picture. My couch sits 14’ feet back from screen and I would have a hard time distinguishing this image from the 5040ub based upon resolution. 2. Color is excellent. I can say it does not match the 5040ub but I can’t expect it to. Selecting “Dynamic” picture really enhances the color and I do prefer this setting. 3. Color saturation very good. Richness and brightness of color rivals my Samsung 65”LED TV. 4. Contrast at 35,000:1 is sharp and deep. Again not nearly as much depth as the 5040ub but hey that one is 1,000,000:1. No contest. 5. Brightness at 2,200 lumens is plenty bright for cinema use in dark environment. Daytime use is totally achievable if you darken the room with drapes/curtains. 6: Price-nuff said. 7: Size and weight super easy to handle. When I do upgrade to the 5040ub this one will be my incredibly portable projector. 8. Pattern selection helps you size and center your image. The Bad: 1: Contrast. I’d prefer deeper darks but this is really a minor complaint. 2. Would have like electronic focus, zoom, etc. makes for a much easier adjustment since my projector is ceiling mounted. 3. Color saturation just a slight bit weak but again I have extremely high expectations. 4. Fan noise level just a tad more than I’d prefer. Overall this inexpensive projector is an incredible buy. If you are on the fence do not hesitate giving this a try. Coming from a movie buff and seasoned home theater user I really don’t see anything wrong with this little giant and can not recommend it any higher. Thanks for reading. It’s been about 6 months since I purchased the Epson 2040 projector. I still absolutely love the projector. For the price i think it is unbeatable. Fast frames never smear. Color is really nice and sharpness top quality. I still want the UHD upscaling Epson but find that this does so well I can’t justify spending $2400. Really wish contrast ratio was better. In a dark room it is noticeable. In the day with curtains pulled this little projector shines. The semi dark environment allows the contrast to looks its best. Still no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this projector. Our home has become the “mini movie theater” for the kids friends. Super immersive e perience especially with a top notch sound system.

Greater than one weekAfter much thought and consideration into either jumping into 4k vs purchasing a projector I took the plunge and went with the 2040. While a few DLP units in this price range offered better contrast ratio I ultimately went with the Epson fearing I may notice the rainbow effect that DLP units tend to produce. Projecting onto a tan wall for the first month of ownership the contrast was absolutely terrible and color looked unappealingly and washed out. My room is light controlled, so after some extensive research into projector screens I went with a 92 Grey screen with a 1.0 gain by Silver Ticket. Wow, colors now seem to pop and contrast is on par with my Samsung LED TV. This Epson unit is fantastic when paired with a worthy screen. Input lag is minimal and playing games like Battlefield 1 and Street Fighter 5 show zero input lag. I still get a bit giddy every time I put a Blu-Ray on. Movies come to life in both 2d and 3d modes, and I have nothing but good things to say about this Epson. Color me impressed.

> 3 dayWe always find that epson products just work and work. No difference on this projector. 4 years and on the 3 bulb, it just keeps wowing. Colors pop, black is black, no rainbow. This projector can keep up with fast action movies without skipping a beat. It is not as crisp as a 4K, or course, but for high end every day and videophiles, it is a reliable workhorse that doesnt let you down.
