EuroSCHIRM Swing Liteflex Ultra-Light Weight Trekking Umbrella, 37.5” Width, Fixed Fiberglass Shaft

I paid extra to get a European-built product, but it made in China by a German company. Very disappointed about that.

Light, cool, perfect size for a solo hiker.

After my first Camino using a cheap compact umbrella, I decided to try one of these “chrome dome” umbrellas recommended by long distance hiker friends. It made a huge difference in my next three Caminos! The biggest surprise was how much cooler I was when using it to shade me from the sun. It felt at least 10 degrees cooler under the dome. For hands-free use to be able to use trekking poles, I used the loop and carabiner on handle to secure it to my waist strap. I also used my shoulder strap loops to tighten it down across my chest so it wouldn’t sway. This was a breakthrough in Camino comfort! Most important, I could use both hands for trekking poles and focus on the hike instead of the weather. It didn’t flip during wind and rain storms, so it has proven itself sturdy. It is longer than collapsible umbrellas so it doesn’t fit inside backpacks. But I used the carry case to strap it to the outside of my pack when not being used. This is the best umbrella for shade. It is lightweight, comfortable to hold, and easy to operate. I value excellence and this is an excellent product.

Bought this on Ebay that does not allow product reviews. This is flimsy, collapses, will not lock. A very high priced item for non-durable quality. Wind blows it upside down to make a cup. No locking mechanism to keep it closed or open. OK for very light duty use. Not made to be durable like the Five Star EuroSchirm regular trekking umbrellas that are worth a few dollars more, and have locks to keep them open and closed.

This is a pretty cool item that was easy to travel with and kept my head cool.

got it for hiking in the rain. it works. I carry on every winter hike.

Ive now hike the PCT, the CDT and the AT with this umbrella. EXCELLENT QUALITY.

Nice umbrella but a bit pricey. There are others that are similar, but cheaper.

What a wonderful product. Lightweight and built really well. I like it because you dont need to press any clumsy buttons to open it. Because of the design it can easily be attached to my backpack and I will definitely try it on my next hike
