I absolutely hated it. I am computer savvy but just couldnt figure out the software. DOES NOT include regular scan snap software which is user friendly. The only software option is Evernote which you have to pay maintenance on when free trial runs out. I returned it for the Scan Snap which has Scan Snap, Evernote, Drop Box, and Google Drive software.

It is so easy to use for scanning and producing great pdf documents that can be printed or saved to a computer. I have a super scanner that I never use any longer because this one works so much more easily and the output is just as good.

The scanner I received did not have any of the user manuals or drivers require to set up the device. This led to several hours of lost time to locate and install the correct drivers and software patches. It should be noted that these are not available thru Fujitsus website. This scanner model is only updatable through Evernotes page, which seems somewhat odd given that the model number on the machine itself is identical to the Fujitsu model released at the same time. The scanner functions as expected, and the wireless capability is a huge asset.

I LOVE ScanSnap but the evernote edition uses proprietary software and I cannot use the basic version, only the Evernote version, which is not intuitive enough for me and will not let me use the quick menu, it forces me to use Everonte, which I love but I use dropbox and it was just a pain to figure that out.

Did not realize it scans only to evernote with a monthly limit to scans. Cannot save to desktop. Stupid idea.

Ive owned three Scansnap ix500 scanners. The scanner itself is absolutely awesome. Definitely 5 stars. The reason for my two star rating on the Scansnap Evernote edition is based solely on the limited feature set of the accompanying software. I am a longtime Evernote user. I use it for dozens of personal and business related needs and happily endorse EN to anyone who will listen. Combined with the Scansnap ix500 scanner Evernote is fantastic. I thought buying the Evernote Edition of the ix500 scanner would be the perfect marriage. Unfortunately, what I did not realize is that the Scansnap software that comes with the Evernote Edition is not the same as the standard software that accompanies the basic ix500. The ix500 software contains a dashboard with many different useful choices. When you scan a document the dashboard pops up and you have the opportunity to decide whether to send the scan to Evernote or scan to a file on your Mac/PC or scan as an email attachment to your mail software etc. Admittedly its a two step process (scan and then decide where you want the pdf to reside or attach). The Evernote Edition scanner software eliminates your choices. Everything is automatically scanned and sent to Evernote as a pdf attachment to a new EN note. If you ONLY want to put things into Evernote then you might think this is an improvement. Essentially drop your paper into the scanner and it automatically appears as a new note in EN. HOWEVER, if you use your scanner for multiple purposes (scan to storage, scan to send an email, scan to EN, etc.) then the Evernote Edition is a bit of a pain in the @ss because you end up spending time trying to fish your newly scanned pdf out of EN and then moved to an email or storage, etc. Bottom line: Even as a heavy Evernote user I would buy the standard Scansnap ix500 rather than the Evernote Edition of the ix500.

The scan snap ix500 provides PC and Mac users an effective way to greatly reduce paper clutter, storage space, and security risks associated with unmanaged paperwork at home or the office. For even greater accessibility and usefulness, users can now scan wirelessly to a PC or Mac as well as iOS or Android mobile devices.
