This Garmin Forerunner 245 replaced my Forerunner 305. I have only used it for a week but it has exceeded my expectations. The challenge is the learning curve to customize screens with the same information as my old 305. It took persistence and time to customize the screens with the data fields I wanted. It took some time to figure how to auto loop the screens for an activity. The Garmin operation manual is very detailed but not easy to find what you are looking for. I have barely scrapped the surface on what this watch can do with respect to training and the metrics that can be tracked with Garmin Connect. I opted not to get the (245 Music) since it would be duplication my iPhone.

I have owned my Forerunner Music 245 for about a year now and find it meets all my needs. I principally use it as a watch and activity tracker--the latter mainly to keep abreast of how much exercise I am getting of various sorts. I particularly like the calendar feature of the iPhone app (Garmin Connect) that works with the Garmin. The calendar is a motivator--how much have I been walking or biking this week? How many steps do I have today? Am I getting solid sleep? Frankly, my job as a university professor so atomizes my time, that before I got the Garmin 245 I had trouble regularly scheduling exercise. Making time for regular exercise is easier now since I can keep track of my exercise schedule now and know what benchmarks I have made. The Garmin Connect app is quite straightforward. The controls on the watch are fairly logical but they take a bit of getting used to. I also appreciate the notifications that pop up on my watch that alert me to incoming emails or messages--these can be a distraction, but at least I find that I miss fewer important messages this way, since I have seen them come in on my watch.

This watch is literally a game changer. There is nothing I dislike about it. Well worth the investment.

Ordered it yesterday and got it delivered today in Bengaluru. Have used the Forerunner 645 Music for 3 years and hence fully confident the product would be of high quality and easy to use. However, remember when you buy the Black colour, the seller chooses to give Slate Grey and you have no choice. That is the only sad part. In terms of pros and cons:

Owned a 235 for some years and decided to upgrade. Excelent choice.
