> 3 dayThis does seem like a great product, and it seems to do everything I want it to do. But be prepared to do some trial and error. The instructions included to get you started and the on-line owners manual are accurate, but not very detailed. They dont step you through how to do a number of key things. Leaving you to experiment and go through some trial and error. Ive used it for three rides now for courses I downloaded with the goal of riding them and being able to observe my location, get directions, and monitor pace, distance, time, etc. I had trouble each time finally getting it to work the way I wanted to, but I think I now have it figured out. Not a defect of the product, just not the clearest instructions for some of these things. Been frustrating so far, but I think Ill be happy with it from now on. Leave yourself some time to figure it out if you dont have an experienced user to tutor you.

Greater than one weekThis is my first ever head unit, so Im not really sure how it compares to others, however, I love it. It tracks all the metrics you could ever dream of and comes in quite handy if youre a little lost or have a long route to take with many turns.

> 3 dayWhen using this GPS unit for hiking its typically 1/3 to 1/2 off the mileage actually hiked. I have been comparing this Edge 830 unit to my Edge 130, Alltrails Pro, eTrix and onXhunt mapping programs. All are in agreement as to the mileage hiked except for the $400 Garmin Edge 830. For a 3 mile hike it will show 1.5 miles while the rest of them show 2.95 to 3.01 miles. I believe the problem is the quality of the receiver in the Edge 830. Not very sensitive? Numerous times I noted that while moving down a trail the Edge 830 wouldnt show any speed. Its thinking Im standing still. Zero! While all other GPS units would show 1.5 mph to 2.5 mph. AND the cookie crumb trail drawn out on each of the maps showing where Ive already hiked all show the same course. And the Edge 830 agrees with the other units stated above about the energy used, elevation climbed, caliories burned and the trail/course used. Just the mileage is incorrect. Accuracy is not confirmed! Currently, I have little confidence in the Edge 830. So Im forced to always have at least 1 other GPS device to varify distance covered.

21-11-2024Very disappointed. It can supposedly do all these things but there’s no instruction manual and it’s the least intuitive device I’ve bought. Planning a ride is very arduous. No idea how to sync with Strava. Thus far, it’s only use is to tell me where I am on the ride and the elevation covered. Should’ve bought a protective phone mount. Would’ve been MUCH cheaper.

> 3 dayItem arrived fast and was listed the cheapest I could find. The cheaper price did not mean cheaper quality though!

Greater than one weekOnce u get a handle of all of its features and functions - this Garmin bike computer will become a vital part of your cycling workouts. Syncing with Strava routes in a breeze. Creating workouts and syncing it to the device is super easy as well. I now use it to perform interval training which is making me a stronger and stronger rider after each workout.

Greater than one weekI’ve been a Garmin fan for quite some time. It does take a bit of getting used to. Syncing and loading routes can be challenging. Like anytime though after a while it becomes second nature. Be aware, you must use the Garmin app from your phone. You can download routes from Strava to the Garmin which was my reason for my purchase. Well worth the investment, if by chance a smaller screen causes difficulties, I would recommend the Garmin with the larger screen.

Greater than one weekLove it!! The touch screen responsive and provides all the metrics I was looking to for. The light/radar bundle, a bit pricey but totally worth it.
