My water bill was going up. I thought time to replace flapper but my Kohler toilets didnt have that. Plus one toilet took a lot of pressure to push down handle to flush. Kohler said that symptom was due to an old flush valve seal. I replaced two toilets that had the old red flush valve seal. They were stretched out. One of the toilet was easy to twist cylinder tube and install it. The other seemed like it would crack so I did as one viewer suggested and just slipped it on and pushed it down the black cylinder tube. Of course the purpose is to save on water usage by sealing off the water when not in use. I am waiting to see if my water bill goes back down. If not, time to put on my water detective hat again.

My in-suite toilet would every so often sound like it a was automatically flushing itself all through the freakin’ night! It kept me awake! I thought it was the flush mechanism so I changed that! Then I observed that it was this O- ring that needed to be replaced! This item is the original Kohler replacement. Don’t buy the fake ones, you’ll just waste your money. These aren’t so expensive anyways. Save yourself the headache and get this original replacement! Getting my well deserved zzzzs!!!

Our toilet became hard to flush. It was becoming an issue so I watched a couple of youtube videos. Those videos led me to purchase this part. This was a perfect replacement part for our toilet tank. The replacement was fast and easy just like the flush became after replacing it. Instructions: Take off the tank lid. Turn off the water. Flush the toilet to get rid of water in the tank. Pull the small hose piece from the center cylinder. Give the main cylinder a quarter to half twist and pull up. This should pop out the center piece. Pull off old seal and reinstall the flushing mechanism. Save $50 from calling the plumber.

In a time where the news can make us feel scared and confused, it’s good to know that there are gaskets like this that still exist in this world. When my wife first informed me that our toilet was running, I experienced a personal moment of pure elation. “Please let me have to replace the canister gasket” I silently muttered over and over to myself as I dipped my bare hands into the mechanical bowels of the place where one does such things. Upon dismantling of my toilet hardware and watching you tube videos over and over again in self imposed perpetual foreshadowing, it was finally time to crack open my most awaited package. After consuming what was in my most awaited package, now being fully nourished, I was ready to tackle the gasket. ITS GASKET TIME, BABY!!!! Let me say, first of all, that in my almost 40 years on this earth, never have I seen a gasket quite of this caliber. From its durable rubber feel, to its bright mustard hue, there was nothing about this gasket that wasn’t magnificent. As I reached in to remove the sad faded reddish pink gasket from the canister, I was struck by just how amazing the new gasket was. It was just so gasketty. I apologize in advacne for any typos but my eeys are blurred with the tears of memory... I trembled with anticipation as I attempted to un-disassemble my toilet tank in the reverse order from earlier. Now, let me assure you that NONE of the following is the fault of the “Golden Gasket”. In fact, when discussing the situation with my plumber afterwards, he reassured me that this gasket was indeed the finest he too had ever seen, was in perfect working order, and was in no way responsible for me snapping off an essential part of the inner toilet tank that prevented it from properly filling. It’s about 62/38 as to whether he meant what he said or was just agreeing with me because he thought I was a bit crazy, but that’s not important. The important thing is “GASKET”. Just that. I imagine that, by reading this review, you too are as fanatical about gaskets as I am. I mean, why else would you possibly be reading a review of a replacement product for a toilet tank? Exactly!! Gaskets. In conclusion, this yellow ring did its job and now I don’t have to hear anyone complain about the toilet running. Yay gaskets...

If you have a leaky/running off and on Kohler toilet, this part replaces the red ring that is on the bottom of the black tube in the toilet tank. The original red ring came apart easily over the years, and this replaces it. Check out the toilet lid underside for parts options, and if you cant determine it, call Kohler and ask what they recommend, with the part number required. To install this part: switch off water below tank, flush the toilet to drain the water in the tank, open the lid, remove black tube (squeeze widthwise), and scrape off red ring that has eroded. then replace it with this ring. replace lid, and turn on water, and flush! 5 minutes to replace, countless gallons of water saved

The toilet valve was going on for about 30 seconds every half hour all day and night. I’d get up an hear the toilet running, then it would stop. Read about replacing this seal, a 10 minute job, and now the toilet works like it should. I noticed that the old seal had developed a small bubble which allowed a tiny amount of water to leak, eventually triggering the valve to fill the tank. This seal fixed the problem...no plumber needed!

My old Kohler gaskets were about 7 years old and had become sticky, presumably due to the chemical attack of chlorinated water. They would occasionally stick to the valve seat and get pulled out of the retaining groove causing the toilet to continuously drain and fill until noticed and reseated. I was going to replace the entire canister flush valve but decided to give this a try first. The valve now works like new, even less resistance when flushing due to no gasket sticking. I bought 4 more and replaced every gasket in my house. Well worth the money and takes less than a minute to replace.

This is a Kohler replacement part. It is very good quality and expect it to last years under my water conditions. It takes about 5 minutes to replace - the canister must be removed so that the seal can be easily accessed. Use care when removing the upper yellow or black plastic disk where the water line attaches. I cracked it on another toilet.

It was the perfect size to seal inside the toilet tank. It was the size recommended by the toilet manufacturer. I have no idea how it was installed or what was done. It was installed very quickly and the toilet stopped constantly running.
