Helpful to have. Easy to install, just make sure to turn the power to the outlet off first. Took a minute to install with Alexa. Am very happy with this and that it is voice activated.

This is a great product to use to turn devices/appliances into smart devices without the cost. I added this to a routine to turn off the power to the outlet at a certain time so my son isn’t up all night watching tv and it was so nice to be able to set it and forget it. Install was just as easy as a regular outlet installation and only took me about 5 minutes total.

I ordered this as I wanted to replace one of my outlets so I could use it as a smart outlet. While the outlet works, as a smart outlet, it is definitely generic. You have to download a 3rd party app that is definitely used for multiple generic brands, however once its setup, it connects with Google Home and I can use Google to control my outlet. I would recommend this outlet, with the exception that it may not last as long as a brand name device.

My husband installed the outlet and said the physical install was just like any other outlet install. It went smoothly with no problems whatsoever. Then he tried managing the Wifi part - Im usually the one to integrate our Smart Home devices, so I eagerly watched him from the other side of the living room. He managed to connect the outlet to our wifi system but failed on integrating it with Alexa. He tagged me in. I downloaded the companys proprietary app (GoSund), made sure I could log in, then opened the Alexa app. I clicked the + button to add a new device, followed the Alexa directions, and was in business. I set up a schedule through Alexa and the switch has worked perfectly. I love that the two outlets can operate independently - I have no other smart switches that work like that. Final note - the instructions that come with the outlet arent very good. Follow the instructions on the product page instead, and dont forget its the + button on Alexa to add the device.

I firstly tried this plug with the app recommended on the packaging: gosund app. Be aware that your phone / laptop will have to be connected to your WiFi in 2.4ghz, it wont work if you are connected in 5ghz. It could be a challenge for someone not tech savvy. I am anti-cloud... Having to use a specific app to trigger my outlet is not something I like, I want everything local. If your internet provider is down, or the Gosund server is down, or even worse, if Gosund goes bankruptcy, your cloud outlet is not going to be triggerable anymore... Thats why Im using Home assistant, its an open source software designed to be a central control system for smart home devices with a focus on local control and privacy. Other similar softwares are Domoticz, Jeedom, Hubitat.. So, here is the interesting thing: this outlet is actually a Tuya outlet, and it is easily flashable to another firmware. I personally love Tasmota. To flash it, youll need a Linux computer, and youll install tuya-convert. Youll find all the details on github. There is a good youtube video that will help you if you need: on youtube search for digiblur tuya convert. If like me you decide to go with Tasmota, youll have to configure it. Go to your console and type the following commands: template {NAME:Gosound Outlet,GPIO:[320,0,576,0,2656,2720,0,0,2624,321,225,224,0,4704],FLAG:0,BASE:18} rule1 on analog#a0<400 do power2 toggle break on analog#a0<800 do power1 toggle break endon rule1 1 module 0 After a reboot, your outlet is now cloud-free!!! And the very last thing to do will be the calibration of the power: on youtube digiblur gosund w01 and go to 16:55. Youre all set!

This is a nice outlet in I have other types of plugs but to have the entire outlet turn on is an added bonus. I dont have to turn things on one at a time. This was very easy to install. It didnt take my husband long to install at all and the instructions to hook up to Alexa were very easy

Arrives with everything you need to get the outlet installed in the wall. It is an in-wall device that fits in a standard single-gang wall outlet. Nice that it comes with screws and a face-plate that fits. Getting the outlet connected and configured is a bit of a hassle. Phone app is simple, download and install on your phone. Make sure you connect your phone to the same wifi youre connecting your outlet to. I had problems getting it connected to my 2.4GHz WiFi router. Once it did that it seems fairly straight forward and its nice each outlet can be controlled separately. I do wish I could control it with my phone locally without having to go through their server. Some things I dont need outside of the home control and dont want to broadcast usage of everything to whomever may be accessing their server data. Overall its a pretty nice device, easy to physically install, looks nice and works.

Perfect! Now I dont have to mind what time of evening the game console is still on, on a weeknight! Set a timer in the app for the electricity to go OFF. He knows what time that is now so he just has to make sure he shuts it down himself first. Alexa reminds him 10 minutes before that happens. No more nagging from me! For my use, this was the best option. I have power strips that are wifi, but he would just unplug them and that would defeat the purpose. I need to get another one for his room in case he decides to plug into another outlet.

Ive been using these for almost a year. So far, 2 of them had died/fried on me and Ive had to replace it. I dont see any other products that do exactly the same thing (monitor consumption) or I would try another product if it seemed like it was higher quality. The app works well. The energy consumption records a line graph, but doesnt really break down the actual time of the day the energy is being used so now that the utility company is implementing a variable rate based on different times of the day, this isnt enough to figure out how much $ of electricity is being used. It is reasonably priced for what it can do, I just wish they wouldnt die so often. Install rating is 3* because its very finicky to get connected to the WiFi. If it would connect to the WiFi on first attempt, it could be 5* installation.

I love that this works with my Alexa. It’s so convenient to use versus a plug that sticks out of the wall. My husband installed and had no issues. I already had the app so it linked right up and I was ready to go. I definitely recommend.
