Greater than one weekI was looking for something to be an air gap between my radio tower where I get my Internet from and my home servers. I simple connected a fiber line between the two and plugged in the ethernet and plugged it in, and it just worked. I have not needed to even think about it once since I installed them which I think is the whole point of this type of device. You should not even know it is there if it is doing its job and this fills that roll 100%.

> 3 dayDoes the job. The brand is 10Gtex but it doesnt actually support 10G SFP. Only 1Gbps SFP is supported. However, it works as intended.

> 3 dayUsed this to put my IPMI interface for the serve onto a fiber network. The server is on fiber for isolation/lightning protection. The IPMI wasnt accessible from the 10G cards, so the 1G needed to be converted to fiber to remote access the server. Works great for that.

> 3 dayThe distance from my shop to my home was further than allowed with CAT 6. I changed over to fiber and these were so simple to install. PERFECT for what I needed.

Greater than one weekWe have a digital billboard outside the TV station I work for. Weve had issues in the past with lightning getting into the building (from the digital billboard or the 350ft tower outside). Unfortunately the computer went out for the digital billboard and when the repair man from the company that supplies/supports the digital billboard replaced the computer... he unintentionally broke the fiber line... like completely ripped one of the fiber lines from the connector. I ran cat5 to the billboard as a temporary patch to keep it up, as it generates roughly $1000-1500 in ad revenue every day. I had issues initially but had to tweak some settings on the cradle point modem/router to get it working. Once I was able to get the fiber line re-terminated I connected our TP-Link boxes (fiber to cat5 converter) but they wouldnt connect. I could unplug the cat5 cable from the cradle point modem/router and plug it into my laptop and it would connect over the fiber line without any issues... it just wouldnt communicate when connected to the cradle point modem/router. I checked the very few settings on the TP-Link boxes but got nothing. I believe a firmware update on the cradle point modem/router is what killed it (made it no longer work with the TP-Link fiber converters). I ordered a couple of these Gigabit fiber to cat5 converters on a hunch and they worked immediately.... no fuss or config changes needed. They just worked... After 6 weeks of back and forth between getting the computer replaced, running a temp cat5 line and getting the fiber re-terminated I was finally able to put this issue to bed. Shipping was very fast which is why I decided to order from my personal account w/prime (as anything I order through Amazon through procurement at work takes weeks). Got these in a couple days and got reimbursed for the out of pocket expenses. They just worked!!! and thats all that matters....

> 3 dayI am getting 940Mbps through my old D-Link DGS108 1G switch and when I use this supposedly 2.5G switch it drops to 540Mbps with only one device plugged in. Also, the power plug is flimsy plastic. Dont waste your time or money.

Greater than one weekUsing these devices to extend POE security cameras. Less than 3 months of use and the power supply for one of the media converters has failed. Getting a replacement is rediculas. After 3 days of email exchanges, they want me to ship both media converters & pwr supplies back to get replacements. I have explained 3 x that I only need 1 pwr supply. Gave up & found a D-Link switch with the specs and used it with a modification. Good Luck
