I was doing the dishes the other night using our 8-year-old Ladyluxe faucet when I noticed my foot was wet. I looked down to find a small torrent of water pouring out from under the cabinet door. I thought the drain had come loose or the disposal was leaking. But, it was this plastic part at the base of the faucet. The threaded, black side split and a thin stream of water was shooting all over the cabinet interior. The part was easy to unscrew and identify as Grohe part 46 315 but I found this part, Grohe 46 138 that looked the same and was eligible for Amazon Prime. I took a chance and ordered the part and installed it without a hitch. It seems that 46 315 and 46 138 are equivalent replacements for each other. I did notice a little difference internally; the shape of the internal screen is a cone shape where the newer 48 138 is flat. This might just be an update to all their parts, though. In the end, the 48 138 fit and works. On the subject of the actual Grohe part, I seems this part is a common failure point in this design. It didnt take long to find talk on discussion boards about this part failing after 5 years. Im going to buy a spare and leave it in the cabinet so I dont go through this in another 5-8 years. I doubt Id buy another Grohe faucet after this experience, though.

Real simple tool-free install. Only challenge is getting access to coupling location on faucet after the faucet is installed. The coupling is located behind sink directly below counter top. The quick coupling part (1.75 liter/min) that comes installed on faucet directly from factory is so restrictive of water flow that we couldnt even get the spray to stay on. Apparently Grohe ships faucets to the U.S. that meet some sort of flow restriction standard. I read one place that the standard is called California Green, which I can only assumes comes from the droughts CA has been experiencing in recent times. In any event the Groho 46 138 000 Quick Coupling part has no flow restriction. So now our faucet works perfectly. Only drawback is the part is priced ridiculously high. $40+ dollars for a small plastic part is absurd. The term that comes to mind is price gouging. Having said that, it works perfectly and completely solved our low water pressure problem.

Grohe direct charges about the same $30 for this little part - so its not Amazons fault

My faucet, which had the Yellow Grohe Quick Coupling, broke about one centimeter below the orange band, which resulted in water spraying all over the inside of my sink when I turned on the faucet. Evidently, this is a design issue with this coupling and it is notorious for failing around the 5 to 7 yrs after installation (from what I read online). The part was very easy to disconnect and I ordered a replacement yellow disconnect immediately. However, in looking on-line I saw other Grohe quick couplings and could not find out any information regarding the difference between the yellow and green Quick Couplings or their specifications except the yellow was for Faucets manufactured before 2005 and the green was for 2005 and later faucets. So I dug a little deeper and found a parts supply website I asked the following questions regarding the difference between the green and the yellow quick coupling to a Grohe part supplier: Is there a difference between the Grohe Yellow Quick Coupling (#46 138) and the Grohe Green Quick Coupling (#46 315). That is, are they interchangeable? Or is there a difference in the amount of water they allow to flow through them? Or is it only that the green is a newer quick coupling redesigned to fix a design flaw with the yellow coupling (which is notorious for breaking in 5 to 6 years)? The response I got was the following: Thank you for your question! The Grohe 46 138 is the older version of the Grohe Green Quick Coupling (46 315). These are interchangeable, so you can use either one. Noting that you are aware of a particular design flaw on the 46 138, I would advise using the 46 315 just to make sure you are getting the newest available part. I actually bought both parts, and the yellow is slightly longer (which does not affect the functionality of the connector from anything I can detect, but that could be what causes it to be weaker). So a long story short, I purchased the green quick coupling (which costs a few dollars more) and installed it. It installed easily and I have had no issues with it leaking and all seems to be working fine with it. I cannot say whether it is a better part yet, but I am betting that the shorter design has made is structurally more sound and I am hoping that it will not fail as quickly as the yellow coupling did. Regardless of the above, given a part like this that is subject to constant movement over the years, I would have expected Grohe to make it out of more lasting material (i.e., metal) that would not break during the faucets normal life span. It is not the cost of the faucet or the replacement part that is the issue but the damage to my cabinet and flooring from the water that built up and seeped through the floor that is the bigger issue. Grohe should be embarrassed by this, as it does not live up to the expected standards for which I believed Grohe was manufactured. In the future, if I purchase another Grohe faucet, I will look to see what parts are plastic and if they still have this quick coupling made of a material that will not last then I will move on to a better faucet. It is not worth risking the thousands of dollars in dammage that can easily occur from a faucet that pours water into you cabinets.

My husband tells me the part was the correct part, however, Grohe has manufactured this replacement item with cheaper materials. When we purchased all Grohe faucets in our home, it was to avoid cheap use of materials. We expect better for purchasing Grohe.

OK we have a Grohe faucet and for years my husband has had to take it apart to clean it out (under the sink). Usually every week or two. A real pain. So finally he decided to see if this would help. What a difference. Every once and a while he has to remove the top of the faucet which just screws on and rinse out the accumulation. This takes just a few seconds and done. Mean while I have the best flow of water in over ten years. Must add here that we are on a well so we have tiny bits of stuff that make it through the filter. Will add our water taste the best. No chlorine so we are drinking water that taste like a swimming poo. This arrived fast and was the best price out there.

1/2 inch and 0.12 pound. Weight.
