> 3 dayThe insulation is thick. The red and black can be pulled apart from each other, no cutting needed, yet they are bonded well enough that they will not separate on their own. The wire is true to size. I used it in a small solar project, and the wire crimped well in some 45amp Anderson connectors and M4 connectors. Quality is such that I plan on order rolls of other gauge wires from this same seller.

05-06-2025Purchased to connect my mobile and backpack rigs to an Astron PSU. Excellent stranded copper wire, holds shape well with good insulation and binding between +/-. Definitely worth it. Having a 12v project, this is the wire you want to use, especially if its for anything automotive like radios or amps.

> 3 dayThis is good quality wire. Insulation is thick, wire is fairly flexible and easy to route through holes etc. The conductors are high quality. The wire is not what I expected so I gave it 4 stars. I know, not fair since its my expectation that made me take one star off. The insulation on the wire is some sort of double layer. The black and red material is coated on the outside with a clear insulation. Im not sure of the purpose of this dual layer but it still works. Warning, something I learned the hard way. I had to solder this wire onto a connector and the insulation melted easily. When you are soldering 12 gauge wire you have to apply a fair amount of heat to get the solder flowing and the insulation started to sag right off the wire. I tried it again at a lower temperature (on the soldering iron) and was able to complete the solder connection without losing the insulation off of it. If you are using only crimp connections (which the rest of mine were) then this is great stuff.

> 3 dayUsed this wire to extend the reach of a 12v air compressor. It is much heavier gauge wire than what the compressor uses do I should have no issues with current draw.
