Good quality paper filters that do not alter the flavor of the coffee.

Ive done quite a bit of research when I decided to start making coffee for myself, post the shelter-in-place world, where my dependency on employer-provided coffee is no longer possible. There are the cheap kinds of V60 paper filters and then there are the good kinds, which is what this product is. Ive been using this for the past three months, along with my Baratza Virtuoso+. Having a good grinder is the first part of the equation if you are to make a cup of delicious coffee. I have a coffee subscription to Atlas. I also tried LifeBoost but didnt care much for the flavor. With the beans being as expensive as they are, having a good grinder is a must, especially if you want the freshest, strongest taste. Grind just before brewing. Okay, with my preachiness about having a good grinder out of the way, lets get into the review of the paper filters. These V60 filters virtually leave no oily residue in my brew, the components potentially responsible for increasing the bad cholesterol and also a funky, bitter taste. Ive drunk a bunch of French Press and Moka espressos in my life. That was before my awakening. These two ways are the poor mans way of making coffee. Ever since I started making coffee with my V60, I havent looked back. I ask for medium roast as dark roast is what roasters do when they cant get the beans to taste good. Its like how black is the default color in textiles when they cannot make any another colors. The brew is very flavorful and Im not trying to drink around the coffee sediment. Overall, if youre into the art of making coffee and enjoy the routine of measuring out the beans on a scale, running the first few bits of water through the V60 paper filter to get out the papery taste, preheating the vessel which will hold your fresh brew, then timing and measuring the brewing process (seconds and grams of water), then the V60 is for you! If youre the kind to use a drip machine, then stay away from this! The slightest variation in the grind size, along with the temperature of the water, and even the flow rate of the kettle affects the taste of your brew. And for heavens sake, avoid the use of cream and sugar if you have a coffee subscription to good beans. Thats like pouring juice in cheap liquor!

Filter takes away the taste of my coffee. It also removes coffee oil which I love from my espresso. Maybe pourover is not for me.

I previously used the brown Hario V60 filters, but switched over to the white filters because a lot of coffeeheads say the white filters dont leave a papery taste in your coffee. I honestly dont know how much of a difference it made, but Im satisfied with the white filters. They dont tear easily when wet, and I definitely dont notice any papery taste in my brews. The price isnt bad for 200 filters, and they fit the Hario V60 dripper perfectly, so why go with anything else?
